This is perhaps the best place to get Real Fish and Chips in Fremont. The Fish strips are ;large fillets and not the precut ones you get in the box or at many competing locations. their breading almost always seems to be perfect and the portion size is LARGE. The two piece fish is big enough for two people. I usually get the seafood combo with oysters, shrimp and I think muscles. All are perfectly cooked. No Line cook here almost always see a older lady and gentlemen cook. Being Asian run they also have a collection of Chinese fast food which I have never seen anyone order.
The place has a collection of Nat Geo magazines form the 60's which always make an interesting read plus the ambiance is very sea faring like with lots of ocean related paraphernalia.
Great place for some hearty heart attack level delicious food. A must visit.

Here's an update.
On my last visit, which is about a month and a half ago, I assumed that this place has changed owners. The reasons are:
-There is a new staff of ladies that are behind the counter. I no longer see those two Asian ladies that I normally see.
-The interior was repainted
-The menu board design changed as well.
They still offer the same items that the previous owners had, minus the chinese food.
Ok, back on the review. Whenever I come here I order combo C, if it's the right one, it consists of 2 pieces of fish, 4 pieces of prawns with chips. It takes about 8-10 minutes for your order to be ready, which is well worth the wait. The fish is long and its prepared from scratch (not pre-frozen like most places. It's hot in the inside, crispy on the inside. Same goes with the prawns. The fries are good, most of the time.
As mentioned before, I assume that this place has changed owners, but the service is still good. They greet you in a friendly matter and they call you up when your order is ready. It seems that they like their customers.
I found this place to be horrible as well. I had the number 2 special (two pieces of fish and chips) and added an order of onion rings. On the way home I sampled the Onion rings (I was really hungry and they say food taste better when you are hungry), but could only get through 3 out of 10 of them. They were definitely greasy and had this funny sweet after taste. When I got home I gave the fish and chips a try, but couldn't really eat it. The fish was super greasy and the chips were just ok because they tasted plain and too salty. I have to admit that a fish fillet and fries at McDonalds would have been a better choice.
I've had Fish and Chips in London and this place has got nothing on that. I guess the first sign should have been that this place offer lumpia, Wonton Noodle soup plus the Fish And Chips. Suspicious combination. Also, the place was empty and it was lunchtime on a Friday in the middle of Lent where I expected if this place was any good the Catholics would have flocked to it.
I wont be going back to this place again. Yucksville!
Greeeeeeasy! But good! The fish is huge and delicious. The deep fried artichoke hearts are huge and delicious. The onion rings are delicious. However my calamari was overcooked and tough and the fries leave a bit to be desired.
I definitely recommend getting it to go. This is built more as a takeout place and the ambiance is lacking. The service is friendly.
Whenever I want greasy good food that isn't chicken wings this is a good place to go.
I went to this place this evening based on the reviews. It was horrible. Greasy, over battered. Absolutely on the same caliber as H.Salt in Fremont. If you have ever had good fish and chips do not go here, you will be disappointed...

This place is pretty good. The fish was delicious while the chips were just ok. They have a pretty interesting menu with lots of different choices. I liked the batter on the fish. It was very crisp and didnt seem too oily.
The only thing i didnt like was the lack of public restroom.

Fish was great.
Chips were overcooked.
Onion rings were excellent.
Zucchini was good.
Malt Vinegar was weak. (Some weird "California" malt vinegar, not British ... even Heinz would have tasted better)
Tartar Sauce was weird.
Ketchup was funky.
Portions were gigantic, which was nice. Overall, I think I would go back, but only if I brought my own malt vinegar.

Right next to Los Portales, 101 is the best fish and chips in the Bay Area. Thank you for bringing me back to my London summer... in Bath... although, make me some mashed peas! -Matt

Trying to think of something different to eat tonight, I decided we needed to have fish - and the tastiest way to have fish fast is Fish and Chips. Unfortunately, I only knew of one fish and chips place in Fremont and it sucks (and, sure enough, it seems to be the only one here). What to do? Check Yelp! Newark is really close, so when Yelp showed this one, "101 Fish and Chips", just a short drive away, we hopped in the car. The place is in a strip shopping center on Cedar at Thornton, just around the corner from Big Lots and the new Home Depot. The look of the place is pretty unimpressive and you'd never mistake it for a chain restaurant because of the hand written signs, etc.
Still, I figured I had to try it. I'm glad I did! I had the two-piece fish with french fries and loved it! The fish were large fillets, long slim pieces, hardly any batter but what batter there was had the nicest seasoning I've had in years. I don't know what kind of oil they're using to fry this stuff in but it's better tasting than usual. And the fries! First, let me admit that I don't usually like french fries because they're so tasteless and dry. These tasted good! I actually ate all of them and I can't remember when I last did that. My husband even remarked that he'd never seen me eat an entire order of fries.
Prices were reasonable and they seemed to have quite a varied menu, including shrimp, chicken strips, and lots of asian food that sounded good but that I'm not familiar with. They even have fried bananas!
We got our food pretty quickly, even though there was a large to-go order ahead of ours. The person who handled our order was pleasant and made sure to find out if we wanted tartar sauce and/or malt vinegar.
Decore = 3 stars
Food = 5 Stars!!

This is the closest thing to English style fish and chips. The portions are large, non-greasy and flavourful. The fish is served with crispy fries and tartar sauce and malt vinegar on the side.
