Review from Hei Ming C.
San Francisco, CA
I have been here a several times and it has been a good dessert place. They definitely have a lot of variety. But for me, it might too much that I can't ever figure out what I want. But I have narrowed it down to their mango pudding noodle thingy. I have had it almost every time and it's good. Their steam egg, not so much (treasure Island on Noriega is much better)
We also had the savory food. My boyfriend and I were definitely having our dinner here. They have some iron plate rice thing. So we order steak with corn and cabbage and rice. The garlic sauce was sooo good. I had something similar in Japan so I thought I should try it. It's good but the steak was a little tough. We also ordered a seafood cream soup with pastry. That thing was SOO GOOD, the pastry was soo buttery. The soup was a little watery but I was okay with it. Just overall, a very very satisfying soup.
The missing star goes to the inconsistency of Wowing me. The 2-3 times i've been here before, it just wasn't the best dessert I ever ate. I guess for me treasure island has been the place for me. -

Milpitas, CA
There is good, hecka good and damn good. The place is good but not good enough for me to wanna come back. Specially since it's far from me.
What I think?
-Place is clean
-service is good
-Food is alright
-They have the tendency to be packed
-very nice presentation on the food (makes for good pictures)
-price is a little too expensive (I spent over 55 bucks for appetizer, dinner, drinks and dessert. you would think it's not really that much but I can spend way less and have a better dinner. Or add 10 bucks and I have the same meal at cheesecake factory which in my opinion is not amazingly great but you can't go wrong with the place)
What we had?
-Seafood pancake ( definitely a disappointment it was oily, it tasted like flour and eggs and the paper tissue they put it on was sticking to it so basically chew and find tissue in your mouth.)
-Pot rice (I don't remember which one my bf had anymore but I like the pot rice better in Omogari, it was waaaaaaay betteer and the price is the same so this is a "meh")
-Chicken melt in curry (this was like a cordon bleu in curry with rice. It looked really good and tasted alright, nothing special right? But when I got to the middle my chicken was still uncooked! It was a tough and it gives out this pungent godzilla chicken smell. You know that smell when it's probably a senior citizen chicken on steroids? That was it and I've had that kind of chicken in Kadok's God bless them but I gave them 1 star. So that experience really almost pushed me into giving these people 1 start but it wasn't as bad as my experience with kadok. So, they are alright.)
-Grass jelly milk tea- I've had better and this was expensive too for a drink. Shoulda had a float hahaha
My bf ordered some sort of fizzy fruit drink i think it was called have a nice day, I thought that was good so maybe that I will recommend.
In conclusion, if I am in the area then I would come back if i need a snack but this is definitely not a dinner place, you can get better dinner elsewhere although I reckon this is sort of a good hang out place when you are out with your friends and you wanna snack on something while you chat. -
Review from Mike L.
Had I written my review for 100% Sweet Cafe when I tried them a year ago, it wouldn't have been very flattering. I was there for a late dinner/early dessert, and the Pork Chop Cheese Melt I ordered (I can't recall the exact name) was not good at all. Essentially a fried pork chop stuffed with melted cheese, the meat was both tough and dry and the cheese tasted a little weird. Though I can't remember how much of it I ate, I know I left most of it on the plate. I guess that's what I get for ordering an entree at a dessert joint.
Fast forward to a month ago, and I ended up back at 100% Sweet Cafe to try something they actually specialize in - shaved ice. Although it carries the same name, it bears little resemblance to the "shaved ice" you get in Hawaii or at some Asian dessert places. Rather, it's actually more like thin sheets/shavings of ice cream. After choosing whatever flavor of "ice" you want, you then choose up to three of their menu's condiments and whatever topping you want drizzled on top.
To get a little variety, my friend and I decided to get two different combinations and share - she ordered the mango shaved ice with longan, mango bubbles, and cold noodles with condensed milk (http://www.yelp.com/bi...), while I got green tea with fresh strawberries, mixed fruit jelly, and red bean with condensed milk (it looked like salad... http://www.yelp.com/bi...). Overall, both flavors of ice (cream) weren't bad, but I thought the best toppings were the mixed jelly and mango bubbles (kind of fun popping them in your mouth), followed closely by the red beans. Even though our server said it was her favorite, I would pass on the cold noodles.
As their name would suggest, I'd say the desserts are the way to go if you plan on dropping in (four stars for dessert, one for the pork chop). While they have a number of entrees to choose from (think Chinese/Asian diner), I'd have some reservations about going that route again. At the same time, I'm not sure what part of "Pork Chop Cheese Melt" sounded appealing to me in the first place... -
Review from Albert L.
Nonexistence service, 100% of the time.
100% Sweet Cafe has been around for years now, serving traditional Hong Kong style desserts to the general public. You won't see much diversity here, for most of the patrons are of Chinese decent, including myself. I've eaten here quite a number of times now, but to this day I still don't know how this cafe remains so busy..
Ginger Tea with Dumplings - http://www.yelp.com/bi...
The doughy, sesame-filled little balls had a mild ginger taste from the tea but was simply way too sweet for my taste. Isn't this suppose to be a healthy dessert?
Stewed Egg Pudding - http://www.yelp.com/bi...
"Please allow 20 minutes."
More like 45.. with such a tedious wait time, I sure hope they were making it from scratch, like how my parents do it. Did it trump my mother's culinary traditionalism? Nope. Just think of an Egg Tart, without the tart, and without any taste.
Black and White - Sesame + Gluttonous Rice - http://www.yelp.com/bi...
Creations on 15th/Geary St. make it better. That's all I have to say.
The desserts were subpar. It really felt like a "fast-food" version of the traditional counterparts. It's probably because 100% went over board with the menu, offering over 100+ choices. Personal, I think it would have been a smarter move to just offer a few dozen signature desserts then a mind-puzzling choices. Should I order the bird's nest with papaya or kumquat and extra mango mixed fruit with a combination of milk tea pudding or aloe served hot or cold?.. You get my point.
---
So, during my most recent visit to 100%, a group of friends and I wanted a place to just chill for a little bit (that didn't involve alcohol), after a AYCE shabu dinner. 100% somehow seemed like the "ideal" choice to just lounge around and wait for our other friends to swing by.
After we were seated, our party of 5 placed in an order (as written above) for some desserts. To order, you read through their immense menu, jaught down what you'd want on a piece of paper provided at the tables and hand it to one of the servers when your ready.
*server glimpses paper and sees only (3) desserts order*
"I'm sorry but you'll have to order more. You have 5 people and there's only 3 orders here. It's minimum $3 per person"
*points to sign that stated: Minimum $3.00 per person / +15% for parties 6 or more / Minimum $25 credit purchases*
Uhm okay, rules are rules, I guess.. But it was fairly difficult for us to order more food after an AYCE dinner. Though it took us a bit to decide what else to order, I noticed the same server giving us the evil-eye for not ordering the required amount in the first place. Yesh, we just wanted a place to hang out for a little bit. Why do I keep coming back here..Listed in: Thee Richmond District

Do not get the Korean Seafood Pancake. I repeat- DO NOT GET THE KOREAN SEAFOOD PANCAKE. Sure, it's good and crispy and all, but it is SO oily and gross. The plate looked legitimately wet from all the oil the pancake contained. I felt like I was eating away my life when I ate that pancake. I've eaten Korean pancakes before, and let me tell you this. This is not the place to get them.
I also tried their Mango Tadpole GiGi. It satisfied my dessert craving, but I've experienced better. The workers aren't too friendly either, so mehh.
My compliments go towards the room design. It was colorful, bright, and nice. What can I say? Purple walls are really attractive. The cafe staff should really do something about the table occupancy sizes though. The biggest table they had was for a party of 6, and they only had one of this kind of table. -
Review from Tony L.
It lives up to it's name. It's sweet.
Real sweet.
Came here the other day and had black peach tea. And while it was good with the first sip, after a while, it was more of an ache-in-the mouth kind of sweet.
That said, there are a ton of desert and food items here that cater to the Asian palate. Strangely, you won't find tapioca pearls here. I'll be the first to admit, I'm not the most Asian-cultured Asian guy you'll meet, so clearly it's a pretty specific fare they're dishing out. And whatever they're doing is working, this joint is packed well into the night.
Food here is pretty cheap, which makes it perfect for a younger crowd. Unfortunately, these days, I don't have much of a sweet tooth. So while yes, it's nice to drop in every now and then, I don't see myself dropping by too often. -
Review from Erica T.
I come here because it has eggettes and other HK desserts. Note: don't come here if you have a large group, the server and food will take forever to get to you.
They have a combo price where you can get a drink and a dessert from a limited list of desserts (you save about $0.50 - $1.50 if you pick the combo).
Depending on the weather I get mixed fruit with sago... yum! or Sesame soup with sesame balls (which is a hot dessert dish).... I can't eat all of the Sesame soup paste with the filled sesame balls, but it is not overly sweet and I like that it is warm and gooey. Perfect for the winter.
I'll come here again just cause it has eggettes and I can eat that while waiting for my actual dessert dish. -

Food review - This place sucks. So overpriced for what you get.
The food isn't even that good for what they charge. -

i love their food!!
i've been a loyal customer since their Grand Opening. i've also recommend this place to many of my friends and family. i remember when they just opened and no one knew about this place. i stumble here when i was looking for parking and thought to myself that i might as well try it.
their dessert is so different compare to the numerous dessert places in san francisco. it looks good and taste great. loved their customer service. they had a waitress there before that remember my regular order.
the reason why i am giving this place is very low rating is due to their recent horrible customer service. there are 2 waitress here that i do not wish to be served by. HORRIBLE attitude. the vibe she present to us was as if she do not wish to be there nor does she wish to serve us what-so-ever.
i wish to return to my favorite cafe, however, i will not. not til those 2 servers are fired ! i will also change the rating.
my apology to the owner of 100% cafe for my low rating. -
Review from Susy C.
Although this place has been around for a couple of years, I never came. I always had it in the back of my mind though... Why?
Simply because they have these sizzling rice plates.
You see, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Pepper Lunch, but I seriously cannot be bothered to drive out to Milpitas all the time to get it.
I walked by this place one night and saw their photos of sizzling black plates w/ rice, beef and corn. I knew I had try.
I have definitely been too lazy to drive to Milpitas... The other night was no exception (okay even if I'm not the one driving, I just didn't want to wait long for food).
I arrived at 100% Sweet Cafe. I had no dessert. This review is based solely on the sizzling rice plate.
I had just the sizzling pepper beef plate. At the end of the list, it says you can choose a sauce: Japanese ginger, mushroom, or onion. I thought I could order one of those for my plate but no! The sizzling pepper beef comes with its own sauce. When I asked the waitress what the sauce was, all she could tell me was that it was a little sweet.
Okay..... I was a bit scared but ordered it anyway.
My friend had the sizzling Kobe beef w/ onion sauce plate. It was definitely NOT kobe but what do you expect for $9.95? He said the beef was still good though.
My plate came and seriously, there was a mountain of rice. There was a small smattering of thinly sliced beef around it.. Seriously, HELLA SKIMP ON THE BEEF! Check my photo! What cut of beef? I couldn't tell but it was dry as shit even though I mixed it around and put it on top of my rice so that it wouldn't fully cook. I wanted the beef to cook through residual heat.
So the "a little sweet" sauce? It was pretty good. Tasted like a garlic butter soy sauce.
I killed my rice and the corn. Left half of the beef untouched.
No way in Hell will this place ever replace Pepper Lunch but it is a decent enough standby to quench my craving for time being. -

San Francisco, CA
This is usually me and my friends go to dessert place when we can't decide which other place to go and every time has been good so far. Many many selections! I always can't decide what to get so I usually stick with one of the zodiac ice cream sundae thingys. But recently the last time I went I got the mango tadpole gigi sago thingymabober. It was really good! Especially when you add a scoop of mango ice cream in it yuuumm :] There are a lot of savory dishes but I always come after dinner so I haven't had the chance to try it yet. I'll definitely come back again to try them one day.
a minus for location... they have people living upstairs so when the place gets really loud, the people upstairs bang the hell outta the ceiling. Scary and unpleasant when you're trying to have a good time with friends. Got scolded because we were supposedly too loud while taking pictures outside. but meh, understandable i guess... it was around 12-1 am.
3 stars for overall food, location & atmosphere.
Service could have been better but it wasn't bad either.
OH YEAH, my friend said their grass jelly milk tea tasted like dish soap. but I don't know because I didn't try it. haha -

San Francisco, CA
Not only its desserts suck, service is also awful.
I have been here twice, the first time came here with bunch of friends and we did not pay much attention on the food quality but the 1st experience was just okay and I found the taste of the desserts are so so.
I came here last night (01/06/2012) again and wanted to get some dessert after dinner in Osha Thai.
Order 1: Soft tofu, no tofu taste at all, very light taste.
Order 2: Ice cream (Green Tea Icecream) mixed red bean, cereal and aloe. It is way too sweet, the cereal mixed in it is a great idea but I don't know why they make it way too sweet.
Order 3: Self-order with black jelly (starch jelly, or liangfen, whatever you call it) with evaporated milk + mixed fruits, the jelly is okay since it is premade which has no difference compare the can jelly you can get from the market. Some of the mix fruit we ordered last night did not taste fresh.
The service was awful, but to be polite, I still gave them $5 bucks tips on a $30 bill. We asked the waitress whether the aloe is healthy and she just told us I don't know with a black face. Hey lady, I know your store is always pack but your service is really shitty.
Overall experience is bad. This place is quite packed. But I guess it is busy just because its name (a chain dessert store from Hong Kong). There are few other Chinese dessert stores around-by, I would recommend you go somewhere else. -

Im from New York, and we dont really have much places that serve desert on their menu more than their main courses. I ordered the mixed fruit and ice cream with waffles. The waffles tasted really cunchy(which i like). Pair that up with a piece of fruit and a generous slab of ice cream and BAM. Heaven.
The only things that i dont like about this place was the wait. Waited outside in 45 degree weather for about 40 mins before we were able to sit down inside. (We had a table for 11) People who had parties of 4 or less kept skipping us till a bigger table opened up. -

Wow this place was quite dead on a friday before 6pm. I hear that's not the norm and it could very well be because it was a rainy night. We were the only ones there until 8pm, when everyone else started filing in.
We tried a number of things:
eggpuffs: not so good
lobster balls: pretty tasty (i like that they coat it with honey so that it's sweet and salty)
korean seafood pancake: tasty
sliced beef dish: tasty
green tea ice cream with red bean and frosted flakes: combination was surprisingly delicious (will definitely get that again) -

South San Francisco, CA
Overall: 0/5
Food: 2/5
Service: 0/5
Environment: 2/5
Price: Inexpensive
While the desserts looks great here, they do manage to fail on taste. Dessert sampler that I ordered started good with a decent creme burlee, then a creamy but tasteless pudding, and plain soggy and dried waffle. An order of soggy and limpy fries will remind you of bad cafeteria food. Only when you thought it cannot get any worst, hair appears on the fries, very disgusting!
Service at this place is just plain horrible, it took forever just to get tea on our table, and it was never refilled again. When we pointed out to the server that there was hair on our fries, and all she said was "oh" and walked away without even the slightest apology or to do anything about it.
Decor is colorful and bright, but dirty table is a minus to the environment.
Pricing do feel a bit high when compared to other Asian Dessert place, and for the bland food that were served, you should save your money for somewhere else.
Overall, I would not recommend my friends and would never come back to this place again. Horrible service, tasteless food, and unsanitary environment, there are so many better choices in SF. -

went here with a huge party. Bad idea. The place is extremely small. When it comes to food the sweet stuff is good. It's nothing special. And its cheap for the quanitity. The actual meat and (not sweet) foods taste sooooooo good but the prices are way too high.
Oh, and I don't like the way the brownies taste..at all. -

Cool place to chill and chit-chat
100% has a little more selections than some other dessert places in city. They have your fruity desserts (yuck!) and you have your choices of dairy type desserts AND if you want, they also have soup and sandwiches. Its not super big like Kowloon Tong but theres enough seating.
Pretty busy on Fridays and Saturdays.
Service is alright since they're pretty busy everytime i've gone, you marked down the item you want and you hand in the paper to them. Sometimes it takes a while...but what can you do?
The food can be a hit or miss, sometimes it can be good and sometimes it can be bad. Good luck!
It's a pretty cool environment, so will go back -

Back again for an update. You guys have to try the pepper beef hotplate! It's got corn on it and it's just like it's called.. peppery!
The only problem with this place is the wait. Wait to get seated, and worst of all, the wait for your food. It varies with what you're ordering, but hell if you're getting anything hot, it's going to take like 40 minutes. Sadly, all my favorite things to get here are all hot.. The hot almond sea coconut with bird's nest... Dofu fa... Hot food... sigh.
This place beats Golden Island, Creations, etc. because of its quaint ambience and great menu. Unlike other places, the food really stands out (in a good way) and I always leave feeling like it was all worth the wait (40 MINUTES THOUGH!?).
Again, would not recommend their green tea ice cream, it's disgustingly sugary and has no distinctly real green tea flavor to it.
Still my favorite Asian dessert place!1 Previous Review: Show all »

We got some noodle dish with shrimp, clams, mushrooms in a creamy curry sauce with bell peppers. Wow. Soo good! So tasty and everything was so fresh. Plus, they're open so late! love that. Only non Asian people there but we didn't mind. The menu is overwhelming.. so many things to choose from. Can't wait to go back and try more things.

This place is your average desert place, with a few exceptions, The exceptions are what give it an additional star in the review. For one, you write down your order, and can ask for special requests. This allows for nearly zero screw ups right? For example, at many desert places if you order a hot food and a cold desert, they will most likely give you the cold food first since it is easier for them to make. Well, using the piece of paper, you can ask for desert to be served last. Win! The other cool thing at this place is the ability to order "Pepper Lunch" items (the meat and rice dish served on a sizzling plate).
All in all, the deserts are average and the hot foods are average as well. This place is the go to spot over other places in Richmond.
The one complaint I have is that the last time I went here, the snow ice tasted strange. -

San Francisco, CA
They have the largest menu selection of all the dessert/snack house I ever been too! I believe that there's at least 4 different menus: actually meals, snacks, desserts, and drinks. I have been here a couple of time and tried many of their items with friends and family. I like most of the food here but there are some that i would probably not order again.
Personally I love the snails and the coconut cold noodle. Each time I come here I would try something new unless I have been craving a particular item and came here specifically for it.
Occasionally when it gets too loud, you can hear the people from upstairs stomping. It does get annoying but it doesn't happen ever time. On weekends especially at night there will probably be a line but on week nights there usually isnt one. The servers are pretty quick. Like most busy chinese restaurant, the servers would not stop to talk to use. They will just get what you requested and move on. But there are a few times where I asked for something like more napkins, and they forgot. But it can be forgiven since it is really busy.
This is a great place for friends to hangout and talk with yummy snacks. Definitely worth trying! -

It opens at 3, my friend and I got there around 4. There wasn't that many people, but it wasn't all empty either. Most people weren't there for dessert at the time, they ordered real food. There are tons of menus, and it is quite overwhelming...
After skimming through all the menus, I decided to get the dessert combo. It came with 2 jelly things wrapped with strawberry and mango, creme brulee, and mango pudding for $5.50. Everything was ok except the mango pudding, I've tasted better.
My friend ordered ramen with curry fish balls, it also came with a free drink (choices: cranberry juice, orange juice, hk milk tea, milk tea + coffee) for about $4-5.
I think this would be a nice place to get quick dinner and then get dessert afterwards because they have a lot of options. I would recommend to come with a maximum of 4 people. -

HK in the Richmond? Gotta love it!
Wandered in here Saturday afternoon on the way to Fresh and Easy. I wish I hadn't eaten lunch already because I totally wanted to try a bunch of stuff on their menu. I thought 100% Sweet Cafe was going to be a 100% dessert place, but I was wrong. They serve as much variety of food as they do dessert. Enough so that I think there's 4 total menus, including one for their "happy hour." (Yes, they serve alcohol, too.) And the prices are pretty cheap. But since I had eaten already, I just gave in 100% to my sweet tooth and ordered whatever the inner FF in me wanted...
Mango GiGi (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) - you know, one of those cold soup desserts with jelly balls and mango. The mango tasted fresh, the soup was sweet, and the jelly balls were plentiful.
Creme Brulee Chocolate Mousse (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) - yup, two desserts in one! The creme brulee sat atop the chocolate mousse. The mousse was fluffy and chocolatey. I wish the top of the creme brulee had a bit more crunch to it. But remember, this ain't no fancy-shmancy gourmet restaurant. The thing prolly cost $4 and that totally works for me!
Extra Chocolate Creme Brulee (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) - their chocolate version of creme brulee. Yep, I enjoyed the first one so much that I wanted to try another. Again, I wish the top was a bit more caramelized, but hey, it was good enough that I ordered 2!
Washed it all down with a Caramel Coffee Icee. (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) This was more like a coffee slushee, but it was still hella good.
The interior is typical of a HK cafe...bright and colorful, with 2 TVs showing a funny kung fu movie on them. (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) It's kinda small and I can see a line forming if it ever got crowded. There's so much stuff on their menus: stewed soups, waffles, dessert waffles, parfaits, pudding, fruit desserts, drinks, etc. I could totally come here and get a full meal. I think I want to try the Magic Curry Pork Chop Cheese Melt and the Sausage Bacon Rolls. Oh, and I really wanted to try their Snow Ice, but apparently the person that makes 'em isn't in until after 4. Gotta remember that next time. And yes, I'm sure there will be a next time. -

The first time I came here I was NOT a fan. I ordered this weird ice cream thing because I was so over whelmed with the large selection.
Three months later, the new and improved menu selector I had by my side suggested I order the snails which was delicious! I wouldn't suggest ordering this for yourself because you'll probably get sick of it half way through and would like something sweet.
The tofu-fa is delicious! I poured the whole mini cup of syrup they gave me after one bite because I know my sweet teeth.
There is one particular dish (one of the top dishes) that has coconut noodles (I don't think they're real coconut) with mango sauce, mochi, and etc is my current favorite. This is great for a mango lover like myself.
This is a great place to catch up with friends for dinner (salty menu) and dessert. If you have a few spare moments, check out the sugar packages on the table, you might find some dirty notes for you. But I swear I didn't write them! :) -

-1 Star.
Disappointed. I took my BFF here just because I wanted us to experience something other than her usual favorite dessert spot (Creations). We've both been here before so knew it wouldn't be horrible.
Wrong.. Service really blows. Maybe I'm just moody because we ordered a couple things first after taking a good 30 minutes to decide on what to get. The waitress told us we had to spend minimum $3/person and we calmly (sort of) told her that we were still ordering.
There was this thing on the wall that my friend wanted to order but the waitress told us that they no longer have that and it was up when they first opened (they've been open for awhile now). False Advertising?
We ordered chicken wings with fries and also this green tea snow ice thing with 3 slices of strawberries, aloe, grass jelly, and condensed milk. Both were pretty good (even though the chicken wings looked burnt.. they weren't!). I would highly recommend the snow ice. It feels like it's a lot healthier than ice cream and the texture almost feels like fluffy shaved ice. I guess it's in between ice cream and shaved ice. It's like powdered layered ice?
Anyway, 2 stars just because there's a minimum order of $3 (never knew about it) and also that it took me 45 minutes just to decide what to order! It's ridiculous on how much stuff there is to choose from.
Parking sucks but wasn't too bad since we went at like 11pm....Listed in: Sweet Spots

100% Sweet Cafe. I love you.
Thank you for being open late. Thank you for having so many delicious items on the menu. Thank you for having the cool and colorful desserts.
My friend and I shared two great items there. We had the taro shaved ice with kiwis, strawberries and mangoes! We also had a crazy... i wouldn't know what to call this. A HK Sundae? It was a tall glass with fruit gel, then a layer of frosted flakes, then two scoops of ice cream; green tea and strawberry, then topped with longan and strawberries. WOW! Seriously. Im gonna upload a photo of it. Yup. So delicious. I'll definitely go there again my next visit to SF. -

This place gets a 2.5. My friend brought my cousin and I here for a late night dessert. He insisted that it was delicious and fancy to look at yet very cheap. We were willing to give it a try.
It's a small place that's very Asian and very colorful and bright. The menu is pretty big and has both dessert and savory food. We chose to order green tea shaved ice (with honeydew, kiwi, and mango) along with a dessert sampler (milk tea pudding, creme brulee, strawberries, and waffles).
The shaved ice was okay. I wasn't expecting much flavor because it was it was ice. I was right. It wasn't bad though. Kind of interesting.
The dessert sampler was pretty and impressive to look at but my cousin and I didn't quite find it as appealing to taste. The milk tea pudding was coconutty in taste and was more spongy than creamy (it jiggles when you shake it though). The creme brulee was good but not the best creme brulee I've ever had. The waffles were plain and only tasted good when we smothered it with the chocolate sauce drizzle that decorated the plate. The strawberries....was just 2 small slices on the side.
Everything came out to be about $11 including tax. I don't think any of that stuff was worth that money. It didn't help that their card limit is $25. What the heck, who would buy that much dessert? I guess if you had a big group....but because we had a small group of 3, I had to pay for everything. I was miffed. I didn't even care for the food. The service wasn't phenomenal either.
I wouldn't want to go back to this place but I imagine that this would be a good place for those with late night sweet cravings because they're open pretty late. -

Yumm.
Love their fresh fruit shaved ice, I like fruit more than chocolate or ice cream anyday.
Menu is really confusing if you don't know what all the chinese ingredients are so I stayed on the safe side.
Hate when you're with someone and one persons food comes significantly before the other, it's rude and awkward.
Overall it's ok. -

Concerning other Chinese Dessert cafes, this is the best in SF.
their service is ALWAYS UNDERSTAFFED, damn u guys, get some better workers...
but avoid Friday/saturday dinner times, u will wait about an hour!
their drinks are great, their eggpuff is crunchier and a bit sweeter than Eggettes :D i love their salmon spiralli pasta and i always try to get their seafood puffpastry soup (the pastypuff is so crispy and flaky). -

Unless you're drunk, starving, or lost your sense of taste, the regular food here sucks. The asian fusion type of food doesn't work out that well. It's really mediocre tasting food that tastes like it came out of the freezer or instant packages.
The desserts here are great though despite their other stuff. The shaved ice is definitely really good here and isn't like your average shaved ice where it's ice with flavoring in it. It's like a hybrid between ice and ice cream so the flavor is evenly spread out. The ice are shaved into tiny bits and it's layered. The shaved ice also comes with three toppings. The mango and lycee bubbles are definitely a must try. -

Honestly, I enjoy the food/snacks more than the dessert here. The spaghetti and seafood souffle are some of the must-haves that I get whenever I go to this cafe.
Desserts are okay. It's pretty much the same as other asian dessert houses around the area.
Not a bad place to go chill for snacks and talk, but after new tenants moved upstairs, they complain about noise by stomping on the floor. So it's a bit scary whenever they do that. And a bit annoying because do they really expect a dessert house to NOT be somewhat loud at night? Sheeesh. Okay ranting stopping now. -

I love dessert joints that are open late night. This place is different too because they serve alcohol here also along with food. Not very good for big groups, four at most would be best. Most of the time the service is super slow and it takes forever to get your food and bill. Most of everything that I have tried here is pretty good, nothing disgusting but also nothing that I would really rave about. I also like how they sell savory food too so I can get my late night munchies fix and dessert at the same place.

This place is just okaay. I like snow ice and I like the idea of them having it. I ordered Durian snow ice the last time I came here, and I noticed that the portion was a lot smaller than some other place I've been. I love durian, and this is the first place I know that serve the flavor. I come here for dinner too sometimes. They have a very extensive menu.

With Video Cafe gone, non-alcoholic late-night options in the Richmond are increasingly scarce. I mean, you don't really go to a place like this for ambiance, quality, and glowing customer service - you go here because it beats freezing outside of Jack in the Box, it's less crowded than the Laurel Village Starbucks, there are more options than a doughnut shop, and it's closer than a decent 24 hour diner (sorry, Lucky Penny doesn't even exist on my radar).
Surprisingly, the guy was very friendly, and did a mighty fine job of keeping our mugs full of tea, and coming over to check in every time eye contact was made. The one girl on the other hand, couldn't be bothered. Maybe she's hardened by consistently shitty tip or lack of help, but shit. There were several things for which we wanted to order, but they did not have available that night. It somewhat came to be humorous because they'd tell us they didn't have [insert number here], but didn't have the foresight to look up what items the numbers corresponded to.
Onto the food. The fries had some kind of wasabi flavoring sprinkled on top, which was different, don't bother with the smoked salmon pasta, the green tea black and white dessert was interesting - the tapioca-like stuff at the bottom made all the difference with texture in conjunction with the basil seeds (or what they called barley), and the mango gigi was very...mango-y. -

If I could give this place negative 5 stars, I would. Tonight I went to this place with my wife and sister. I ordered mixed fruits with shaved ice, order number 301. While I was eating my shaved ice, I used my spoon to dig into the shaved ice and I couldn't believe what I found. I dug up some shaved ice with a piece of GLASS in it. The size of that piece of glass was 2in by 2in. I was like WTF?!?!?! It can't be true right? I had my wife and sister verified my finding and sure enough, it was a piece of glass.
The server came over and told me it maybe a piece of plastic. I was like, seriuosly, THAT'S A PIECE OF GLASS. Later the server explained that someone broke the glass this morning and didn't do a good job cleaning up the place. Apparently, one piece of glass dropped into the ice box. Now I don't know if it's just one piece or multiple pieces but man, it's very scary!!!! I was fortunate enough to find a big piece, but what if there were other small pieces that dropped into the ice box. Other customers could have eaten it.
Now, I'm afraid of eating any type of dessert with ice in it. I'm traumatized!!!
Eat at your own risk. -

asian dessert place that is open late =]
Food:
Tadpole Mango
- yummy combo of barley, mango, tiny pearls, and "tadpole"
- must eat it quick before the shaved ice melts
Thick Toast w/ Peanut Butter
- PB melted into the middle of thick toast, topped with a huge slab of butter, with a side of syrup
- warm snack good for a rainy night
Crystal Jelly
- fruits in a jelly-crepe-like substance, with fruit sauce/jam
- jelly-crepe-thing reminds me of those lychee jellies that come in little individual plastic cups, very flavorful! and a unique dessert
- a must get! the strawberry one is a better flavor than the mango
Macau Pudding
- nothing really special - would NOT recommend
Tang Yun with Sesame Paste
- friends said it was good because the paste was not overly-sweet as other places make it
- expect to wait ~ 20 min for this...
Black and White
- glutinous rice + almond paste
- plain tasting
- took forever to come out and was only luke warm when it did come out
- would NOT recommend
Service:
- service with a smile, but almost no service given at all
- if it is your 1st time there, there is a piece of paper you have to write your orders on ... do not wait for the server to come by and take your order , because they will just tell you to write it on the paper
Although the dessert is a hit or miss, i will likely come back and try some more, since this is one of the few late-night dessert places in san francisco
