Can't say much for the venue but the DJ played some legit music. I'm from Texas and we like to break it down at clubs (not like snobby manhattanites who prefer to bob their heads to techno. Lame.). So I was very happy to hear "girllll drop it to the floor, I love the way your booty gooo," because that's exactly what I did.
It's not as bad as it can get, but there are some bridge and tunnel-ers who ruin it for the rest of us. Listen, Jersey Shore boy, stop grabbing my ass and trying to stick your tongue down my throat. I only started dancing with you because you somehow managed to look normal on the outside. Sigh.
Anywho, go to 1oak for a dancey good time. -

Brooklyn, NY
Another over rated pretentious place in NYC.
$1500 - $2000 for a table of 4-6!
Music was not bad. The DJ was actually good.
We came here on a Monday night I believe.. we walked in at 11pm and they were starting to open, it eventually started getting crowded...the crowed was young and all they wanted to do was be loud and obnoxious...
The bouncers were nice and respectful, I remember there were people trying to drink from the bottles on our table and the bouncers stepped in and moved them away from us.
The waitress was nice until we paid the bill and she got a $200 then ignored us and didn't get us any water till the end of the night.
All in all, I would not go back here again. My friend had invited us here because he was visiting NYC and heard that this would be a good place to go on a night other than a weekend.
I honestly expected better decor, service, music and quality of people... -

What a crap place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stumbled in here at around 4 when Kiss and Fly closed. Dumb loser doorman couldnt just tell people that the place was closing....and they already had last call. He made it look like the place was that special...the guys we picked up from Boston paid $300 to get us in...and we walk in and they are not serving. NY....your not that special!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your club was small...boring...had bad music and a small bar.....your door men are scum bags and your night life is not that special at all. Your place sucks!!!!!!!!!! -

Meh...I have a love hate relationship with 1Oak. One night it's great music and crowd, then another it's shit. It's such a hit or miss, but seems to be my go to spot. Tuesdays seem to be good here so far. The nice thing about 1Oak is the openness of the venue. It's almost like a giant oval, where all the tables face one another. Similar feel to SL East, only larger scale. I do love the semi-private tables in the back.
The bouncer is always a roided out dick wad. Never been a fan of him. There are several, some I adore, but there is one large, tall, grumpy black man that just seems to hate life. I usually laugh at him as I waltz in. Me = Partying, and You = Not. So, I can understand his frustrations. -

It pains me to rate this place at 3 stars, but when I think about it...though I love the crowd usually, and the gold mirrored smoking room is one of my favorite spots, I go to clubs for music and dancing and the music at 1Oak has always been pretty mediocre. I also used to love coming here when I was underage because they would very rarely check ids. This is a spot to see and be seen. I feel like recently it's been overrun on some nights by a more promoter-y crowd like you'd see at Greenhouse or something, and maybe it's best days are behind it, but 1Oak is still a good spot. The sort of raised area near the fireplace is the best spot in the club...I'd hate to be in a table near the back because it seems like it would be drafty back there. The layout is weird in that way.

I've been here a couple times with some girlfriends. When I feel the need for a douchey night in meatpacking this is one of the stops. Each time we've had a blast. The music and the crowd are typical for the neighborhood, girls who make me feel like a midget with my highest heels on and the guys buying up bottles thinking they are the business. We always end up at some group of guy's table and drinking from their bottles. Yes, I am that girl who will party with you for your liquor then slink away before the night comes to a close and you try to get my digits. I'm not ashamed to admit it either.

This place never fails me!
Like most people, I usually stumble in here around 1 or 2 AM, on any given night and it's ALWAYS up to par. TRUST me on this one, you do not want to get here before 1AM because you will be completely bored out of your mind, not too mention the music and the crowd also suck before then, as well.
Overall, there is a great looking crowd here from all over the world, you're almost certain to spot celebrities and models in this joint, the people are super friendly; they actually (try to) dance and are very engaging, as well.
The door staff, for the most part, are very selective and picky of who they let in (image is EVERYTHING here, sadly). Make sure you know someone that will get you in, or you better be prepared to spend big money to get passed those ropes. It will be well worth it! -

***SUNDAY REVIEW***
I have never been so dissed in my life. I've been to clubs in Vegas and LA....and those places are pretty pretentious, but none of those experiences compare to my experience at 1 OAK.
My friends and I were on the guest list for this club as well as invited to a table by a promoter at the club. You would think we'd be able to get in. Apparently, only ONE GUY decides who gets in and who doesn't. We told him whose list we were on and he said "You ladies have to wait just like everyone else."
My friends and I were the ONLY GIRLS in line. All the guys tried talking to us and asking if they could get in with us, but we couldn't even get in ourselves! Then the ASSHOLE follows up with ppl in line saying, "Guys are not getting in anymore unless you buy a table!" After about 30 minutes, I asked the bouncer what was the likelihood of us getting in and he replied, "the guy's an ASSHOLE". Then we asked the other lady at the rope and she said, "It's not up to me. It's up to him" Then she points at the ASSHOLE.
Meanwhile, the ASSHOLE proceeds to let these other people in. Even this one girl that was straight up in jean capris, tank top, and flip flops. Wtf?! You would think this place had a dress code. A few minutes later, I asked him again, "We're at ******'s table....can we get in?" And he says, "Look if you don't add a bottle to their table, you're not getting in."
WOOOW that was the crossing point for me. We left the line and headed to another club. I'm glad we did, because we had just as much fun there.Listed in: NYC

I always have a good time when I come here, but my review may be skewed because I also tend to arrive after already partaking in long night of drinking. Which, by the way, is a key move to experiencing 1 Oak, because once you're in getting drunk is prohibitively expensive so it's best to be as wasted as possible BEFORE you enter. Or, come with a promoter.
The decor is interesting. The designer appears to have been inspired by livestock and alphabet soup, but the end result is actually pretty cool. I was feelin it.
I've heard horror stories about the door at this place, but it seems like as long as you're dressed fancy enough and your party isn't a sausage fest you'll probably be alright. -

New York, NY
I dont know why.. but I just never have loved 1Oak. It may have something to do with the fact that I think their name is totally lame (1 of a kind? i feel like that should be the name of a grocery chain in the midwest). It may also have something to do with the fact that I was going here and randomly one night wasnt allowed in but some fat skanks were. I didnt come back for a little while after that incident...
but either way I come here if that;s where we are going but it's small and usually boring. But the decor is sexy and bartenders are always super nice. But not my fav. -

Came here after SL... a bit bigger than most .. good crowd and the club wasn't overly congested, it was just right.
Hear its hard to get in without blowing alot of money but as girls, its pretty easy at the door. Had a pretty good night here -

Cedar Grove, NJ
Excellent service at the tables and great DJs. Not a lot of the same old cheesy house and club hits. More euro I'd say, on the night i was there. Crowd was mostly monied. Wouldn't really call it a dance club, more of a place to see people and be seen. Tons of fun, if you have plenty of money to blow.

Came here on a Sunday night when its supposedly crackin, the music was the shit but the ppl running this place are totally racist. I don't think I've ever been straight up discriminated before in my life.
I came with 2 girls and we had a promoter who was supposed to get us in. He told us to dress "nice" because the bouncers are picky with who they would let in. We arrived in dresses and heels and the bouncers were being dicks and letting in girls wearing work out sneakers! i mean right?? and another girl came in with an h&m shopping bag and slippers. My friends and I were the only ppl in this club who weren't white with platinum blonde hair or big black men with money. They would only let us in if we provided them with a credit card and if we agreed to spend $150 each at the bar. WTF, nobody else had to do that. But then again we were the only asian ppl in this club. Anyways we ended up spending more than we had to at the bar but that's besides the point.
I don't understand why this club is so exclusive, its small and all these rich snobby ppl stand/sit around and don't dance. Everyone pretty much just stares at each other. Totally overrated, and I've come to the conclusion that NY clubs/bars are wackkk -

Loved this place, and danced my ass off! I was in NY on holiday, and this was the second place we hit on a Sunday night. It was just my friend Dina, and me, and we walked right in.
It was pretty mixed. I met people from all over the world. I had a blast. -

Manhattan, NY
For a guy, getting in on a busy night can feel a little like crossing the Korean DMZ, but once/if you get in, the place is pretty on-point.
Inside is a relatively small, dimly lit lounge with modern decor. The night I was there they played a nice mix of top 40 and classics, and the DJ definitely had the crowd moving. However, most of the space is occupied by tables, so there isn't really much of a dance floor, per se, (dance floors are so '90's anyway, right?). It does get pretty crowded, but with mostly attractive females, so I won't complain.
The bar service was pretty good, although $18 for a Kettle and Soda has got to be an NYC record, (though, to be fair, it was closer to a double).
Overall, 1 Oak was pretty good time. Given the small space and the difficulty getting in, I'd probably recommend reserving this place for special nights when you don't mind going in on a bottle with friends. Enjoy. -

The last time I was here me and the girls had a great time, and it was TONS of fun!! I would recommend this place, the music was great and the crowd was def. international- which I loved. I'm really not out to meet people of one type when I go out! And I don't go out with people anymore that do! :)

Review from Ranu R.
Came here with two girlfriends on a Thursday night, maybe it was around 1 AM or so? No line, just walked up to the bouncers, gave them our id's and we were let in. Being polite and nice always helps, oh yeah, and looking cute. Also, we were meeting a promoter inside but since there was no line, we didn't even drop his name and had no issues. Two thumbs up already.
Inside, the vibe is cozy, with fireplaces, a big central bar, and raised areas with tables. I really liked it here. Great in the winter (due to aforementioned fireplace), nice looking crowd, a good DJ who was playing some good house/hip-hop. Everyone was dancing and it was a fun time, not too crowded but not empty at all. Can't speak to the drink prices but I'm sure it's typical Meatpacking $15 vodka-sodas. That's why I drink for free, duh. You should try it sometime. =] -

My bank account the next morning. Worth it now? Borderline. Worth it then? TOTALLY.
Oh lordy. I remember going here for a few reasons. First off, I ACTUALLY GOT IN. This is not one of the places that would easily grant me entry in Manhattan. See my review of Simyone Lounge (SL). As much as I long to be here and love the clubs, I am just not good looking enough nor do I possess the Black Platinum cards that are frequently being handed across the bar. BUT sometimes when I feel a little classy, I go out and I party.
1 Oak is gorgeous. My words can't even describe it. The ornate details of the wood work of the bar, (I don't know why I remember staring at the bar,) and the walls of letters and interesting murals coupled with the low mood lights that eliminate the "creepy-dark" and replace it with "mystery-dark," (if that makes any sense.)
The drinks were strong, but they better be for the cost. Your typical Upscale Lounge pricing applies here, and when you're having a great time like me and decide to buy two or three rounds for your friends, you end up with a not so happy Bank of America account the next day.
The crowd was a very good looking crowd, moving to the music and having a genuinely good time.
Pretentiousness, (Pretention?) [wc?] is alright in small doses. 1 Oak is perfect for that.Listed in: Rage Spots

The door is very tight, but if you are a young good looking girl its really not a problem, just be polite. Otherwise you need a table or to know a promoter to get in.
This place is not really "happening" till 1:30am-ish before that its dead. The Drinks are about $20 each, that was the price for a pom martini anyways. Lots of tables full of promoters, ugh.
Most of the girls look underage and seemed to not know their limit, a lot of drunk chicks falling all over the place. There is a good selection of good looking guys though yay!
Not the best club but still fun. -

Went on a Sunday. Friendly promoter-guy escorted us in w his group. Bouncers nicer than expected (the biggest esp). Small venue but right size for exclusivity, though WAAY too many people pushing past at one point. Often enough to want to punch someone by the end.
Didn't see the smoking room (or see or smell smoking) thankfully. Dim, decent ambiance, though not as breath-taking as the club last night, Avery, despite the much better location & clientele. Cool bathroom concept too. Be careful down those stairs though!
Got excited thinking I was looking at Bradley Cooper, but once I saw the attractiveness of the girl he was likely giving his number to, I could only hope it wasn't him. Fortunately I was right. Almost sure I saw Tyson Beckford rockin' out near our table. Or some other chocolate, bald-headed model-guy. Crowd mostly younger, though some balding, suspicious white guys managed to get in. And dudes w t-shirts! Bball caps? Shredded (in the not-so-cool, 1998, girly way)?! And most guys were 5'8" MAX, so ladies look elsewhere. As for chicks, about half models, half run-of-the mill, and a few meaty. How the hell one meaty girl got away w a normal blouse, shorts, and flats is beyond me. (As a model, I still go all out to get into these places--everyone else should too!)
The DJ was at times nearly as bi-polar as Avery, minus the pausing. He played too much hard-core (non-Top 40, recognizable) hip-hop for my taste. And dub? NO. THANKS. OR 70s/80s rock anthems... PERIOD. And when the "Prince of Bel Air" theme spun, I lmfao. Really?? This ain't karaoke, 1OAK, it's a fkn dance party. So play some shizz I can actually dance to! No, Rihanna's S&M doesn't count... Try dancing to that s**t... It, like many of the other songs you played are just fun sing-alongs... Nothing w a great beat. Sat more than anything and that's a 1st for me! Left early--also a 1st! Sorry but Sundays here doesn't make the cut. I'll def try Saturdays though and see what happens! Just gotta figure out how to get in then! ;) -

somehow i just always end up here... i guess it is one of the several clubs in the city right now that still has a good rep after being around for a while.
the place does not usually get good until 2am or so. as for all nyc clubs i like it best on weekdays. i never had problems at the door, but either a friend or promoter always have a table.
i like their smoking areas. even if you do not smoke - you will always meet someone interesting there. -

I've been a few times and always had a good time. Best time to go is between 2 and 3:30, If you go earlier (12ish) it is pretty dead. The place is well decorated and the bartenders are nice though I don't buy drinks because a mojito is $20 but its meatpacking, don't expect anything different. The bouncers are nice as long as you're polite and I don't think it is hard to get in as some say though being a girl I know it makes it a lot easier. Some girls were complaining and shoving their id's at the bouncer when we were going in and it took them a lot longer to get in because of that . Most of the girls are models and lots of european guys. It's fun but it's not for everyone.

Ok so I went here to celebrate halloween this past saturday and i must say I had a great time.. I split a table with my boyfriend and a girlfriend of mine and her boyfriend and another girlfriend of mine.. we had two bottles and that was all we needed.. Good music selection for the night.." house, pop and hip pop" yes I was surprised.. Not sure how much the table and bottles are on regular nights but this halloween weekend there was a bit pricey but worth it when your surrounded with good people!

"Closed For Private Event"
That sign is on 1OAK's facade EVERY NIGHT OF THE YEAR.
But that's why you come here. It's exclusive as all hell (if hell were exclusive) and that's what you pay for. Don't even try just walking up to the door and expect to get in. Make your way around the party circuit and buddy up with promoters.
And make sure you have your AmEx on hand at all times. Not sure how much the bottles run here, but I do know that people were handing over cards and wads of Benjamins to the people at the door to get tables - and others who weren't willing to fork over the dough were turned away.
The inside is nice - but I did expect it to be a little more clean. It just had that look of a dingy Euroclub at 9 a.m. after hundreds of wastoids were done partying their lives away. People were spilling drinks all over the place so the floor was wet - and no one came by to clean anything up.
Some of the tables are cramped - when it gets packed, they'll start putting two separate tables together in one booth.
Music was hit and miss - a GREAT song would come on then the DJ would cut 45 seconds into it and change it up to something wack.
It's Meatpacking afterall, so of course there's models everywhere. But we were seriously disappointed in the dudes that were let into this place. I'm 5'10'' (a little over 6' with heels on - as were most of the chicks in there) and I swear I didn't spot a guy whose forehead went past my shoulders.
I had a blast anyway since I was with my two best friends - one that just moved back from Paris and the other who was just visiting for a week.
Bottom line: if you have the money to blow and you want to feel special, come here. It's good to come with a few close friends, get some bottles and have a good time without being too jammed in with creepos. -

Same door policy applies and it's a really fun place. Make sure to know someone or have a table otherwise you're not getting in. -

So obviously club experiences vary person by person and time by time. I went here last Thursday night and had a great time so my 4 stars are based on that. We were waiting in line outside and got ushered in with a promotor (just one other girl and myself) which we weren't even expecting so that was nice. Inside we got some drinks at the bar which are you're typical club cocktails so nothing special there. The small area with a fireplace near the bathroom looked nice if you wanted to chill out, then the main dance floor / table area was on the smaller side which I liked. We got there early, around midnight I think, so it wasn't too crowded. We ended up meeting and talking to more people and having a great time. International crowd, fun people, good music. We both had to work in the morning so we left around 3:30 but it was still getting more crowded... so if you're looking for a good party on Thursday head here.

Review from Lisa R.
I went to 1 Oak recently on a Sunday night. We got there around midnight. It was hopping but wasn't too crowded. They played primarily hip-hop with a mixture of top 40 hits. The decor was rustic yet urban, a combination which rarely works, but in this case it did. The guys were like "eh" but the girls were gorgeous. The ambiance was cozy and sleek, with candles surrounding the room. Overall, I would have given this space a "5," but downgraded it to a "4" due to the overcrowding that occurred at about 2 am. The dance floor became unbearable due to the pushing and shoving, and we were forced to leave. 1 Oak keep up the good work, but make sure the small space doesn't become a fire hazard!

New York, NY
Beautiful decor meets beautiful people at this exclusive Meatpacking/Chelsea lounge. Lucky for me, I was accompanied by 8 girls (YES!) so getting in wasn't too much of a problem. As I entered I saw the beautiful gold alphabet decorated walls and zebra flooring, and when coupled with the excellent music and sound system, I knew I was in for a treat. The smoking room in the back is excellent, keeping us smokers (or people who want to look cool smoking but don't actually smoke) warm and in style.
Why only three stars if this place was so good?
Bartenders are complete shit. I don't mind the $18 drinks (you have to expect it in this area), but the service at the bar was appalling. At one point the bartender wouldn't accept my card (I gave her one I hadn't activated yet by mistake) and when I proceded to tell her that I was going to go to the dance floor to get my wallet from a buddy, she told me I had to be escorted by a bouncer! A bit of schmoozing got me out of it, but did she really think I was going to leave when she had my passport and card!? News Flash: If you want to stay at the top of your game, 1 oak, switch the bartenders up. If you want to be like so many of other bars in NYC with horrible bartenders, then you really aren't 1 Of A Kind.Listed in: Keepin' it Classy

It really is just 1OK.
We went spontaneously on Wednesday night.
The crowd was okay, an odd mix of guys in hoodies and girls in tiny dresses, music was horrible, some Eurotrash, but the worst bit was that people were so busy showing off that forgot how to have fun. Very superficial place.
At 2K for table, surely the atmosphere could have been better. -

Rude doormen and host.
I went here with two of my girlfriends. While we waited patiently in line, the doorman and the host didn't even bother acknowledging us. Apparently the host is the shot caller, he ignored us and let the people behind us go in.
We weren't the only ones discriminated, a lot of other girls left feeling frustrated with their indifferent attitudes. And the doormen were making snide remarks to girls who left the line. Apparently they have a problem with everyone's dress code. Wtf? A--holes.
Goto Park instead, it's right around the corner and you'll have more fun there! -

I love 1 Oak.
It's super posh and pretentious, but I was expecting that and I had a really good time. I went here for fashion week event, and I made a few business contacts as well.
But overall it's just a beautiful place with more beautiful people, super pricey drinks though. Music was great that night, saw some people from the cast of Gossip Girl as well.

I love 1 OAK. Although it's hard to avoid middle-aged balding men in NY clubs, most of them stay off the dance floor here, so you don't have to see them grinding with young ladies.
Additionally, the bathrooms are super cool and have giant gun decor on the walls. -

As The Situation would say, 1 Oak is crawling with grenades and landmines. On a positive note, the girl-to-guy ratio is in favor of successful creep-age on a hippo or two. But, if you're a Sammi (the slimmed down version) with more to offer, ditch the juiceheads at 1 Oak and head for greener pastures.
Sorry, 1 Oak, but your 15 minutes are up. -

Ladies, just make sure you have 3 inch spiked heels or wear your sexiest Christian Louboutin heels to 1OAK. That's the keys to this kingdom. Then, get ready to kiss arse.
My friend and I had the opportunity to get into this ultra-exclusive place run by another exclusive social network, and despite a membership card, which in theory, is a golden ticket to any event run by this organization, it was a hassle to get in. Naturally, should I have been surprised ?
We got in line (it was really early in the evening, wtf) but my friend decided to check out the scene at the front of the line. My friend, donned in a v. cute short dress, tells me to save our places in line, and then goes to one of the two bouncers. She's flatly told "no flats allowed in here". She comes back sorely disappointed and pretty soon, we're having a discourse about this ridiculous remark with other girls standing in line with us.
Then, I take her membership card. I'm not in any clubwear so I was at a risk, too. I actually looked business-like BUT I had 3 inch heels. I went to the other bouncer, flashed the card and a smile and asked whether I could bring one more person in with me. He agreed but then saw my friend behind me who is wearing flats. He says "no flats" - I'm sure my face fell and I gave him a horrid look. I say "It's just one person, that's it" He finally complied and bended this hard and fast rule!
Finally, she and I got in. So much for the membership card. It was the 3 inch heels and pleading.
Service was not as bitchy as expected but that's because it was still early in the evening.
I expected something phenomenal. Quite the contrary. It's small and a bunch of seats/tables were already reserved. People looked like they're mingling but they were not. The room was full of people drinking very expensive champagne or expensive cocktails. My feet, which were tired from standing so long was seeking respite and there was NO PLACE where I could sit down for a brief moment. I was out of there after 1 hour.
The club itself was small but looked luxurious. Its sheer size is conducive to exclusivity, but I'm not sure it's the other way around.
After my visit here, I remembered why I don't go clubbing. But I can say that I was able to get into 1OAK without dropping 1G and just wearing three-inch heels. -

I came to this club with a bunch of people (wouldn't know about the wait, b/c I guess one of the guys knew someone)
I loved the smoke room in the back (too cold outside) and the decor of the wall with all the letters. The place was big and played really good music. There was enough room to dance and also lounge out.
I would go back next time im in NYC. -

10ak (short for One Of A Kind) is definitely a dope spot. Very small but the space is mad sexy. Everyone seems to be there to really party and have a good time.
I've only been here once on a Wed. Definitely go with a promoter/hot girls. The night I went Busta rhymes and Maxwell were there. All the chicks seem to be models lol. My boy DJ's here so I spent my time hanging in the booth or in the back VIP. Definitely one of the HOTTEST VIP's I've ever seen/been in.
This place also smells really good lol The candles smell great. -

Typical meatpacking door policy, not too hard if you're a girl. Went on a Saturday night and it was a joke how crowded the dance floor was. After being groped by half of the sweaty guys in there my girlfriend and I decided to bounce. The space is beautiful but spatially it sucks.

great music, great staff, great location, and fabulous people. I would say it's expensive, but I never pay drinks..
Anyway, the decor is different, chic, and nice- very cozy. The staff was friendly, and the location isn't bad. If you are looking for a good time of dancing, drinking, and fabulous people check out this place! And for the girls, you won't get nasty guys grinding up on you..it's a chill spot..
