WORSE, WORSER, WORST!!!
Against the admissions of my fellow yelpers, I ordered flowers from here to be sent to my boyfriend's work for our 5th year anniversary. I called the day before, after I'd researched what I'd wanted on line (one sunny bouquet, in a vase, with lemons (make lemonade special) and 2 Mylar balloons that say happy anniversary... cheesy as hell but I knew he'd both like it and be horribly embarrassed so I went for it.
I called up and got a guy who obviously didn't learn English as his first language... the call lasted around 45 minutes because I had to repeatedly repeat everything I said. The guy on the phone was very nice but defo shouldn't have been (trying to) talk to customers on the phone. He kept trying to sell me stuff which i know is his job but I just don't like it- especially since once he started going into his hard sell he couldn't be stopped, he was like a robot that couldn't hear you interrupting to say no thanks on the other end.
Anyway, I request my delivery time to be at 10:30. He says "okay, 10:30 delivery time"- what time do the flowers get to my bf's work? 5:25. I ended up having to call 1800 flowers 4 more times and use their live chat that day to see where my flowers were. All I heard was that the flowers went out for delivery at 7:30 am but that they had no way of radioing or calling the driver to see where he was. Uhm, this is 1-800-flowers- how the F do you not have a way of contacting your driver. Jackasses.
OH! I forgot, about 2 minutes after I placed my order I got my email confirmation. I had wanted the card message to read "Happy 5th Anniversary, Smelly. Love Always, Candice" (Smelly is my BF's nickname since high school- not because he's smelly but because it's similar to his last name). So I check the confirmation and the card reads "Happy Anniversary 50th Smelly love always candice" Uhm, no. I call back immediately and speak to a woman who confirms the change to the card message and assures me it will arrive correctly. Did it? Hell no, the card read in the broken English 1st version "Happy Anniversary 50th Smelly" So not only does it sound like this was my card's first time visiting the U.S. but it said 50th not 5th... and the rest was written like it was one long sentence, without punctuation, and no capitalization... not even my name. C'mon!
Okay so now back to the calling, I call 4 times and live chat on line and still no updates about my flowers and am now told that you can't request delivery time- all deliveries will arrive between 9 am and 7 pm. What? why wasn't I told this yesterday when the guy was more than happy to take and confirm my delivery time? They don't know but that's their policy. At 3:45. I call and tell them to cancel my order because he leaves work at 4:00 and I don't need them delivered when he's not there. They tell me they'll cancel it and my refund will be on my card in 72 hours. At this point, I'm wondering how they'll be able to call the driver to tell him not to cancel since they can't call to find out where he is.
So now I'm fuming because I had a series of deliveries going to my BF's work throughout the day (including pizza for everyone) and it was totally f'd now because the flowers and crap were supposed to be the first ones... so when my BF got the next delivery he was totally confused and thought that someone was pranking him and making him pay for their pizzas, not realizing it was an anniversary surprise.
I ended up having to call him and tell him what had happened, in case the flowers did show up after he'd left work. After the fabu pizza lunch his work had, they all stayed a bit later to catch up on some work and at 5:25 the flower man arrives. My bf takes the flowers and lets me know they arrived... he also told me that one of his coworkers grabbed the card to read out loud before he could see it and read "Happy Anniversary 50th, Smelly love always candice" ... I was pretty mortified because they're going to think I have no social skills because my grammar and punctuation are so poor- lovely. Why did the lady confirm the changes to the card and not change anything? And he also mentioned that there weren't any whole lemons in the thing like was shown on the photo- just 2 cut into slices of lemon, one of those being the butt of the lemon. Are you kidding me with this S? I saw the pic he took of it at home and the flowers weren't even the same... it looked like something shitty I could have clipped from my garden.
So I call back again to make sure they cancelled my order because I am not paying for any of that. I call, and the man on the phone tells me that my order was never cancelled before even though I had been told by the last operator that it had. I'm currently in limbo, waiting to see if my card will be refunded or if I'll have to dispute the charge with my credit card company.
1-800-Flowers are a bunch of bastards. Avoid them at all costs.
1800Flowers is absolutely horrible with customer service. I hate speaking English to people that don't understand English. So annoying, poor customer service, and this company does not deliver on its same day delivery promises. BUYER BEWARE!!
Do NOT use this company!!! On three different occasions I ordered flowers to be delivered(order placed 2 weeks in advance). None of the orders were delivered on the date I requested(and the company confirmed). Not only were the flowers not delivered, but the company did not tell me that they were not delivered. However, they were happy to charge me for the delivery(that didn't happen)!!!
Probably the worst flower experience imaginable. Let me illustrate this via time line.
Wednesday evening- order flowers to be delivered to a fellow coworker on Friday.
Friday- all day we wait in anticipation, the flowers never show.
Friday evening- on the phone with the flower people for a very slow process that resulted in them saying the flowers did not arrive (master of the obvious) and they weren't sure why (good thing we called them looking for answers).
Since we had these sent to a work location, we asked if we could change the address to our coworkers home address to be delivered on Saturday. After another 30 minutes of incompetency on the phone, the order was placed and they credited our account with a 20% discount.
Saturday- The flowers never arrived to our coworkers home.
Saturday night (2am) on the phone with 1-800 flowers- "oh, so your flowers didn't arrive. We can resend them on Monday and credit your account with 20%". -"you've already done that, if they can arrive tomorrow, that would be fine"..... ten minutes after beating around the bush... "we don't deliver on Sundays".
"I'm not paying for dead flowers, they are probably going to be dead by the time they get there, if they ever do get there".
"Okay, we're going to void the whole order and make sure new flowers are sent back to the work address by Tuesday". Genius!
Monday Update- The flowers are now out of stock, and will not be able to be delivered until Saturday.
That Saturday (the 15th)- cancelled. We asked if it could be put in for Tuesday the 18th.
Woman on phone- " The order was put in to be delivered on the 25th. There is Nothing we can do about changing the order. Billing says, no you cannot change the order."
"Hmmm.... Can we cancel & get our money back"
"no the vendor already confirmed."
Today...the order was canceled for the 25th, by the woman who said she couldnt cancel the order.
The flowers (a different arrangement than suggested), were finally delivered!
Now, if that was frustrating for you to read, imagine what it was like to experience over a span of two weeks. If you are getting flowers at urgency, avoid 1-800- flowers here at all costs.
1800flowers has some real problems! This marks the second time they screwed up my order and I will NEVER USE THEM AGAIN for these reasons:
1. NO SHOWED on their same day guarantee
2. Cancelled my order without telling me.
3. Lied to me about it
4. Double billed my credit card
5. Never Returned my calls
etc, etc. It seems that they are also using offshore customer service reps who have a difficult time both speaking and understanding the English Language.I talked with no less than 4 customer service reps and FOUR days after I placed my initial order my "Same Day" flowers have not been delivered. (Order #72447573 and #72454618).
I agree with everything previous posters said. DO NOT ORDER FROM 1800 FLOWERS!!!
I order two days in advance. Apparently my flowers and chocolates (for a birthday) were sitting on a truck for 5 hours before they disappeared. I kept calling them for updates and they kept telling me that they had until 7pm to deliver and to call back then- I knew they were just avoiding me, as it was a SATURDAY and florists don't usually deliver that late. Finally I call at 7 and they tell me they can't do anything until MONDAY when the florist reopens. No birthday present for my girlfriend (although they did offer to call her and ruin the surprise by asking if she received the flowers she would never get).
OH and when I told them the only thing that would make this better is if they redeliver AND give me a full credit you know what they did? They charged me double.
This review is not for any particular location. I've ordered through them for various occasions and have been pretty happy. The one time I really was VERY unhappy was with the arrangment I got my secretary for adminstrative assistant's week. It was supposed to be this really vibrant tulip arrrangment, and it showed up with only white and yellow tulips (which just looked plain stupid) and they were sagging over!!! I felt so bad having those be delivered to her! Customer service was very nice about it though and brought a fresh arrangment over the next day and gave me a coupon for my next order; they also let us keep the first arrangment, which had perked up overnight after we put a penny in the vase (I had no idea that worked!)
Anyway they have such cute arrangments (especially the happy hour series- SO ADORABLE) that it makes the occasional blip in quality worth the risk
Let me preface this review with the fact that I am a sourpuss grouchypants about fresh flowers. I love flowers - in the ground. I'm just practical. Give me some new socks or tampons over flowers any day. When I received flowers this afternoon, I was disappointed and annoyed at my parents. (spoiled bitch alert). They KNOW I think flowers are wasteful. I opened the box to find some brown, wilted roses, a bear that will go in my dog's toy box, some ugly balloon and some shitty candy that looks older than dinosaur shit. Ugh. Oh, and I had to arrange these piece of shit almost dead roses. Not my thing. My parents spent good money to make me happy. I should at least have flowers that are half way alive and smiling at my bitter ass.
I called the 800 number to complain about my flowers. Pissy bitch is an understatement until I spoke with Ingrid. She was the nicest, most lively call center gal in this entire universe. She pointed out that they were supposed to be delivered yesterday, hence the reason they were almost black. She offered to to have them sent again free of charge, and I agreed. I couldn't have my parents card refunded. They would be so disappointed. In the course of my conversation with Ingrid, she reminded me to be thankful for my dad as her dad is no longer around. She said that he tried really hard to make me happy. And you know what? She's right. I should be grateful to have parents who acknowledge my birthday with flowers. By the end of the conversation, the bitch stick was pulled out of my ass and all is well. Let's hope tomorrow's flowers are better than today's. For the record, I plan on completely lying to my parents about how beautiful the flowers are.
P.S. The only reason for three stars is because Ingrid was such a doll on the phone. 800-Flowers is lucky to have such a friendly person working there.
p.s. Never did receive any kind of refund.

i ordered a plant for boyfriend to be delivered to his business. paid the same day cost and specified. after approximately 12 hours on the phone with their offshore customer service reps, 2 different florists (which should have been changed on day one, not day five), countless bold-faced lies (including one instance of me speaking with 3 different people on the phone trying to get to a manager (carlos) and he pretended he could not hear me when he picked up the same line, i found out when a manager answered my 3rd phone (i had to have 3 going at once so it would only take 2 hours to reach a manager on one of the three lines) that carlos was off in 15 minutes and clearly did not want to start a new conversation so he pretended not to hear (very poor pretending), and 6 days later, my boyfriend received the plant that was neither anything like it was described, nor the upgrade i was promised at least 5 times.
and there were 100 other problems along the way.....now, how do we take them down???
My boyfriend ordered flowers for me on 1-800 flowers. I found out when I saw the door-hanger on my front door on Sunday evening, with the phone number for Enchanted Garden (800 outsources some deliveries). I called, got a machine, and planned to call back Monday morning. They called me first, but the caller was rude, and when I asked why no one called me Sunday evening (I was home all afternoon, and could have happily received my flowers) the woman kept changing her story - explaining that they had indeed called me, my phone was forwarded, they left the flowers in my back yard during the afternoon and retrieved them. When they got delivered to my office later that day, the delivery guy smelled homeless, and while nice, made uncomfortable jokes. And the flowers, while a super, super nice gesture, looked day-old, and it makes me sad that my boyfriend spent what I'm sure was a lot of money on them. He spent quite a bit of time on the phone with 1-800 flowers, and they promised a replacement arrangement for me. Which never showed up. So, what was supposed to be a nice surprise ended up being stressful and annoying for both of us :( And now that I think about it, he ordered flowers for me from 1-800 flowers for Valentines day that showed up a day late. Weather was awful this year, so I cut them some slack, but still... and they left the flowers on my porch (which I had asked them to do) in freezing weather WITHOUT calling to let me know they were there. Ah, flowers are over-rated!
