Talk about a SURPRISE!  I have to admit, I am not a great lover of Thai.  It certainly falls below my love of Japanese or Chinese.  I don't quite know why other than I drive by it all the time, but I stopped for a quick lunch.

It is BY FAR the Best Phad Thai I have ever had and that's at any price.  All the dishes served here are made to order.  None of the sticky noodles that results from sitting in a large pan full that is somehow "reheated" for the plate.  They have three wok stations to prepare each dish as it is ordered.

I LOVE the one with the fried Tofu!  I now frequent the spot sometimes twice a week for lunch and wish there was one on Mercer Island or the Eastside as I would bring home dinners.

They offer a choice of about 20 different preparations of dishes including fried rice, chicken & vegetables and other usual asian dishes.  I have never eaten the rice but it seems like a lot of people do and the portions are very large.  Very big take out business as well.

It's clean with a very freindly staff.  Give it a shot...I think you will agree!

Given that you can stand at the signpost at the center of the universe, chuck a stone, and hit about fourteen different Thai places in Fremont, crossing the canal for 1-2-3 Thai would just be silly.

Sure, the food is fresh and prepared to order, but with a small kitchen and skeleton crew, this can translate to inordinately long waits at peak hours.  And in spite of the clearly fresh ingredients, dishes tend to be bland and lack the heat you'd expect in comparable meals elsewhere.  The salad that comes on the side is essentially a pile of iceberg lettuce with a drizzle of nondescript dressing.

Most recently I requested my Pad See Iew "as hot as you can go" and I couldn't detect any spice whatsoever.  I think there might have been a pepper flake embedded in one of the pieces of broccoli.

On the plus side, it's relatively affordable and the staff are really pleasant. Unfortunately neither of these really matter if you don't enjoy the meal.

With so many other Thai options just across the canal, it's worth the extra five-minute trek across the bridge.

The food was okay but nothing special. Good value.  We wished the swimming rama had more chicken / spinach and less bean sprouts.

Went here for lunch with my boyfriend. The Thai was not very good. We had panang curry, calamari and pad thai. The calamari was rubbery which I can't stand. Who likes eating rubber bands? Also they came in just typical sweet chili oil, nothing special with the sauce either. Also, no fresh salad rolls on the menu? Major let down! The curry was more what I would put in a strictly "soup" category and was very watery to put over rice. Pad thai was just sort of blah. We ordered 4 star spicey and it tasted like it was spiced with ketchup. The service was good, but other then that there wasn't much to offer. Pass this place and try somewhere else.

I work nearby, and at one point this few blocks of Nickerson had three choices for Thai food.  And a 7-11.  So you see my predicament - did I want Thai, Thai, or Thai?

But even before the Kosamai truck decided to high-tail it to South Lake Union a few months ago, I would rather walk the block to 123 Thai.

This is a clean, updated, inviting take-out restaurant.  (I say "take-out" only because you order at the counter; there are plenty of seats in the restaurant and they'll bring your meal out once you order; it's just not waiter-service.).

I don't have a "usual" because everything I've tried has been so tasty!  For a lighter meal, go with the Thai beef salad or the Basil Chicken (without noodles) and you'll still feel satisfied and full thanks to all the fresh veggies and yummy spices.

    The GOOD:
FRESH food.  I can watch them cook up my basil chicken with fresh vegetables, and it's not all pre-made.  I prefer to omit red bell peppers, and when I asked for that - the owner asked if I wanted him to throw in some broccoli instead (yes, please!).  Very refreshing in a world where "No Subsititutions" is generally more prevalent on a menu than the hours.

FANTASTIC service.  The owner usually works the register and the rest of the staff seems just as eager to please.  They are all smiles and ask how you like your food, is everything tasting good, etc.  The owner will walk your take-out order out to you instead of hollering names or order numbers.  What a nice touch!

FAIR prices.  This isn't the cheapest take-out joint around, but I think you get a good deal of good food for the prices.  You can expect to spend around $8 for a meal, which includes your main dish, a side of rice, and a green salad.

    The BAD:
I really can't think of any... except I do find myself annoyed that they don't have a website.  I guess I could just pick up a takeout menu one of these days, but that's kind of beside the point, no?

Overall, they get 4 stars from me.  They lose 1/2 a star for no website. (C'mon... this is Seattle.  Everything is online) and another 1/2 star because for the second time in a row, my cucumber salad was bitter.  Hopefully next week the cukes are sweet again.

Very good, very quick Thai food. The guys in here are always so nice. When they knew I was studying for finals and kind of in a hurry, they packaged half of my meal for me to take home.

I do like this place. I think at times, they can be overpriced, and they don't quite offer as much as I had hoped.

But they are super nice, really quick and are not shiesty with their drink   fountain.

Working at SPU, this Thai restaurant is perfectly located for my convenience.  Only a 10 minute walk away, this place is easy to get to and isn't too busy to at least get a table.  Their service is SUPER QUICK and VERY FRIENDLY!  I love their Phad See Iew and their Thai Iced Coffee, which is cheap ($10 for all!) and very flavorful.

    Yay Thai!

I am a big Thai food fan, and this place was very good, considering I am used to top-notch, A+ gourmet Thai being from the Bay Area.

Prices were very reasonable, food was delicious, service was fast and courteous, and the restaurant was clean and spacious.

Loved that they had a 0-4 spiciness option for people who like mild to hot, hot food. Had the Phad Thai and the Spring Rolls, my sister had the Thai Dumplings and Garlic Basil noodles (with chicken), all of it was very good, and good sized portions, especially for the price. Would definitely go back here for lunch or dinner, especially for take-out.

This is the best Thai place in the SPU area. That being said, there are only two Thai places in the area. So... The food is not bad. I have had the pad kee mao (called basil noodles? on the menu), red curry, and some stir fry chicken dish (can't remember the name). All were good. The pad kee mao was my favorite of the 3. It was well spiced and flavorful. The red curry was not bad. Rich and coconutty, but needed a little more salt and spice. A comparison of prices with these items to another Thai restaurant (in Fremont) shows that the prices are $1-2 cheaper here. However the portion sizes here are smaller (more lunch size, than dinner size). All dishes, however come with rice and a salad. Many other Thai restaurants charge for rice, so perhaps that somewhat makes up for the difference in portion size for some people. You could certainly do worse, and your options in this neighborhood are pretty limited in any case.

Had lunch with a friend I hadn't seen in awhile and he suggested the place after asking what type of food I was in the mood for.

I usually order something 'safe' when going to a place that serves my favorite type of food so I got garlic with chicken. We waited maybe 5 minutes before chowing down. Everything was very fresh and filling...just OK. I was a little surprised having Thai iced tea served in fast food paper cups, but less dishes right? Right...?

The portion size was good, the prices right up my alley (cheap!), and the dining room was very, very clean. There's no such thing as too clean!

Service could have been a little friendlier especially since it wasn't busy, but I take this place for being more take-out type (Thai iced tea in a paper cup?). If I'm in Queen Anne (or Fremont since it's only a block away from the bridge) and am in the mood for 'fast' Thai food, this is where I'll be! :)

This is the only fast 'to-go' type restaurant in the area, and since I work nearby, I tend to go here a lot. I get the pad see ew most of the time, but I've tried the grilled salmon salad (don't recommend it) and the basil chicken (was decent) as well. The pad see ew with chicken is very good; I can't really say it's the best, but it's very good. It comes with mushrooms in addition to broccoli, carrots, cabbage, and egg, which is unique. Like a previous reviewer pointed out, a 1 will add some black pepper and a little red pepper flake to your meal. I've always wondered why, since I thought that 1 = no spice...good to know to ask for zero next time!

Clean restaurant. Offer glasses near soda machine for filtered water, which I like. The service could be a little friendlier, but I understand why it's not, so I roll with it and let it slide here. Other things I like are that they serve the pad see ew with a complimentary side salad w/ honey mustard dressing and white rice. Most places won't mix noodles and rice, but given how spicy even a 1 can be (or rather, scalding hot, since they serve it straight from the wok), it's nice to be able to cool my mouth on plain white rice or a crisp, cool salad. The prices can't be beat- I'd say about $1-2 less than all the other "average" priced places. Pad See Ew with chicken is $7.95 plus tax.

Not a bad joint, just not the best Thai place in Seattle. :)

Just returned from another delightful visit to 1-2-3 Thai. Their cute little motto "good, clean, fresh" is so true. Though, they should also mention fast, friendly and welcoming.

The white table cloths, open kitchen and casual style ambiance is where I want to be for lunch. Sadly, I am back at my desk, eating take out. It takes them less than 10 minutes to get an order ready, and you're on your way.

i write this between bites! ... let me just finish my delicious Tom Yum soup and black rice pudding, and I'll complete this review. Too good to let get cold in these 20 degree Seattle temps today.

Fast, Friendly service with freshly made food.

    Inexpensive, good sized portions.

    Clean, comfortable dining room.

Stand outs include Teriayki anything and Pineapple fried rice, although the latter would be much better if it had more pineapple and the pineapple was fresh rather than canned, but regardless of this it was still different and yummy.

actually 4+ stars.... (BTW their website is still down as of this review).

Fresh, inexpensive & convenient, what's not to like?

This little quick-serve Thai joint is great. My pad see ewe was cooked to order. It's also priced lower than most (albeit an ever so slightly smaller than some). My meal came w/ a small little side salad.

It's my go-to place for fresh & quick to-go.... unless it's Monday-Thurs & I forget to call in an order before sunset (it's July)... then I'll have to go next door if jonesin' for Thai.

Yum, I'm sold.  The hubby and I went here for lunch, and what a treat it was.  For 7.95, I got a delicious plate of basil noodles with tofu with a side of salad and rice.  The noodles were nicely cooked with a hint of crisp, which I like.  The dish came with a good amount of tofu, along with some basil leaves, egg, mushroom, onions, and tomatoes tossed into it. As for service and decor, I'm a fan of both.  The man at the front is friendly enough, and the food comes promptly.  The decor is nice too: the walls have some stones in the molding, pictures of Thailand, and finally, the television has national geographic on rather than a random television channel.  It's a nice place; I like the vibe.  I'll be back to try more yummy food.

I have eaten at 1-2-3 Thai on Nickerson roughly 1 time per week for the past couple of months, and that should tell you something!  I love it.  Their food is really delicious, fresh, fast, and the establishment is clean and easy to get to.  (It is also close to my Magnolia home.)  The staff are friendly.  What more could you ask for?

My favorite entree is Emporer's Cashew (#21 on the menu) which I order spicy (5 of 5 stars).  The Pad See Ew and the Pad Thai are also delicious.  In fact, I have never had an entree here that I didn't like.

I am not a fan of their appetizers, however.  I've had the garlic prawn rolls and the golden calamari.  They were a little bland because they are basically just one ingredient, fried.

Before I discovered this place I was a devoted fan of Orrapin at the top of Queen Anne hill.  1-2-3 Thai is just as good (if not better) but also more economical, and significantly easier to park at.  Give the place a try and I'll be surprised if you're disappointed.

One bad thing about moving from Nickerson street?  No 123 Thai!  I am a huge lover of Thai food, but Seattle in general has been disappointing in that department, except one place, this one!  I'm not even sure I appreciated it when I had it, because it was my only experience with Thai in Seattle, but now that I have been disappointed so many times, I crave it all the time!  I can't stop thinking about it!  Everywhere else has way too small sizes, missing ingredients and spices, and this weird thick grainy curry sauce, yuk!  This place makes classic dishes the way they are supposed to taste, with lots of very clear dishes.  These people have heart, too.  One day I ordered some food, and realized I didn't have my wallet.  The cashier let me come back to pay, how awesome!  Just know, if you don't like extra spice, order a 0, not a 1.

Good food!  Been here twice now and will definitely go back. Larger portions would be nice though.  Most meals are $7.95 and this place is cheaper than Thai Fusion down the street! No outside seating directly in front, but you could walk just right around the corner a few steps and use Tully's tables (2).

1-2-3 Thai is a great restaurant. The food is excellent, the staff is very friendly, and the place is exceptionally clean. Be sure to pay special attention to their spice rating scale, which goes 0-1-2-3-4. Zero is no spice, and four must be a thermonuclear blast. I had my food at a "one" the first time I was there. It was equivalent to a two or three at most other Thai places. A "zero" for my second trip was just what I wanted. Granted, I'm not that into spicy foods. 1-2-3 Thai offers a great value and I expect many happy return visits.

This place basically rocks!  The guy that does the cashiering is super nice.  He always asks how my day is going and likes to make decent small-talk.  The food is very inexpensive and is close to where I live so I really love going there!  The atmosphere is cute, but I usually just take my food home instead of eating it there.  And the fast service makes the wait hardly noticeable!  I definitely recommend this place if you get a hankering for some decent Thai!
