great sandwiches...sometimes not the best service (don't come here if you're in a hurry....if you're like me and stopped in thinking "how long can a sanwich take....this will be a good 10 min spot to grab a bite." think again.) but some of  the sandwiches are worth the wait--

(I JUST REMEMBERED ONE THING AND HAD TO COME BACK AND EDIT MY REVIEW: This place doesn't take credit cards....which is really lame. Something shady going on. I have removed a star for this reason. )

As all have said: Service is slooooooooooooooooooow.

On the order: brie & apples w/ honey, knish with pastrami, knish with steak, #13 pressed sandwich, # 12 pressed sandwich, beer.

Knish was a gamble that paid off....you can't go wrong with meat and potatoes.  I don't know which sandwich had what but the maple syrup/pesto spread was tastee delight.  Bread was crunchy and chewy, though once the heat from the press cooled the crunch became too hard to chew.

Added a star for being next door to Bierkraft.  I also suggest they knock the wall down to combine the two....this would truly be my candyland of dreams.

These pressed sandwiches were like the hug that any weary West Coaster traveling through Brooklyn needs.  The location is tres cute, with a patio out back.  I had the #3 Turkey, Fresh Mozzarella grilled mushrooms and sweet onion jam, pressed into Ciabatta bread, served warm with a diet coke.  IT was deeeeeelsih! My buddy had the #2 which I also got to taste and it was delightful as well.

They also have lots of yummy salads, appetizers and desserts!  Check this place out--they deliver as well.  They also have a $5 kids meal section on the menu with sandwiches and hot dogs and other thigns that the kiddies love.  But watch out--its CASH only!

I've been here/ ordered from here probably 25 times at this point and I've never been disappointed. All the sandwiches are delicious, especially the one with the roast pork and jalapenos. People complain about the service, but just order a glass of wine and have some conversation and the food will be ready before you know it. Delivery can be spotty, but they toss in a bag of chips, which is a nice touch. I'm building up to getting one of those knish sandwiches, real gut busters.

1.So much selection and I got the #12 with no regrets (fave sandwich of our waiter too). GREAT bread {drool}. Salads looked piled on and delicious.
2.Generous glass of refreshing red sangria with perfect little apple pieces.
3.We ordered two sandwiches to share with three people and they gave us half of each sandwich on three plates. They are too kind...
4.Patio has nice slate tables and umbrellas, good lil setup outside
5.Hard to believe that small kitchen makes the entire menu.

today was the #30, grilled eggplant with fresh mozz, and marinara on their delish focaccia.  $8.50.  i have to say, it took about fifteen minutes to decide what to get because the entire menu sounded so appetizing.  finally i narrowed my choices between the grilled portobello, goat cheese, black bean spread panino, the grilled zuchini with roased red peppers, fontina cheese, and other veggies, or the sandwich i eventually chose.  it was a very tough decision, espesh because the menu had so many vegetarian options.  my boyfriend had the pastrami, sour kraut, mustard option, and was very satisfied.  ive never been disappointed when ive gone to press.  also, the white sangria...awesome.

Its true - they take forever (take-out takes about 20 minutes and delivery was over an hour). And if you think Tempo Presto is pricey, try justifying paying another $2-$3 per sandwich here. That being said, it's probably the greatest sandwich in the area. I've tried about 6 of them and have yet to be disappointed. The flavors are all distinct and delicious and the portions are satisfying. The sandwiches also come with chips.

Don't sit in.

Seriously, get everything to go or delivered (no delivery past 9pm), sit outside at Byrne Park or Prospect Park, and enjoy one of the best grilled eggplant - roasted red pepper sandwiches you will ever have in the city.

I'm not kidding, though, don't sit in. The service is soooooo slow (sometimes to the point of being horrible) that a snail can break a leg and still win.

If you do have the guts to battle the wait go get yourself some soup before diving in to your sandwich.

I'll say it again: the food is great (who knew a sandwich could be so awesome?), the service is subpar (really, don't bother). Grab a sammie and grab a beer from a bodega. Best lunch ever.

This place has some of the best sandwiches in Brooklyn.  They bake their own ciabatta bread and it is super crusty on the outside and soft inside.

My favorite is the #18 which has spicy grilled chicken, jack and cheddar cheeses, black bean hummus, and Bermuda onions.  YUMS!

They have close to 30 different sandwich options and every one I've had is great.  They also have some great vegetarian options if thats what you dig.  My girlfriend always gets the #12 which has black bean humus, artichokes, roasted red peppers, and provolone.

The service here is only so-so, although I've only eaten in once.  It took quite a while to get our servers attention, but he was very friendly...just laid back.

Try it but they stop delivering at 9pm so eat early folks!

I should clarify that the 5 stars here are really 4.5. The lil half is lost because the service was sort of so-so but the food was so delicious it has won be over despite the less than great waiter.

I am not a sandwich person. Probably because my mother made sandwiches for me all throughout high school and because I worked at the sandwich counter in college for awhile. Sandwich usually are the last thing on my yummy list but my bf insisted this place was worth it so we went. Got the coveted window seat so I could make faces at the people passing by who stared at my food and we started with a pitcher of sangria. Yum! Followed by the butternut squash soup (thick and creamy) and then I had the Grilled Eggplant with Roasted Red Pepper, smoked Gouda and garlic spread. Delicious! I also got to taste my bf's Turkey and Fontina with Chutney and Roasted Pear. Also a great choice (though not as good as mine hehe!).

This sandwich inspired me to try to turn my George Foreman into a panini press because I'm too cheap to buy a real panini press. It inspired me to go out and buy sandwich ingredients. In the end mine was not as good but I'll always remember this sandwich with fond memories :-)

The best soup and sandwich in Park Slope. I waited 45 minutes for my order, but I'd do it again. In particular, the vegetable soup was maybe the best I've ever had--fresh, simple, and delicious. And the prosciutto and mozzarella panini went down nice and easy. It's not a casual, deli-style sandwich shop, but 195 is the place to go when you want something more than your average sandwich.

Ah. The panini. So few can master it. And Press 195, I believe you have.

I think my only qualm with it is that sometimes the bread is too toasty, and it often cuts the roof of my mouth.

This place is okay. I live up the street and wish I wanted to frequent it more. It has some great dishes & some lousy ones.  If it were a little cheaper & took credit cards I may like it better.

Things to avoid: The Veggie Chili (HORRIBLE)
Things to not miss: The knish sandwiches... (UNBELIEVABLE)

The atmosphere is nice, especially outside. You can eat some kick-ass appetizers like the hummus plate - always good for sharing. Coffee is okay. Dessert not so worth the calories.

All in all, go and get a knish sandwich but other than that.. don't expect greatness.

The sandwiches are excellent (as in crave-worth) and served with homemade marinated cucumbers.  For $8-10 each, it's not too bad and the food is pretty filling.

HOWEVER, the service the past 2 times I've been has been horrendous.  Have found something in the bottom of a water glass, we were never given silverware/napkins until we were served our food and asked for them, and I had to literally wave my arms to get more water.  Oh, and this was while there were literally only 6 other people in the whole place.  I understand that waiting tables might not be the best job in the world, but at least give us napkins and silverware and occasionally look over the damn counter to see if the customers need some water.

Tasty and interesting sandwiches almost compensate for the truly horrendous service. There are an almost unlimited combinations that you can choose from for your sandwich including, my personal favorite, having a knish as your bread. They have the best roast beef  in the area and their non-sandwich options are equally tasty, including their drinks.
However, their service is horrendous. Not only are the servers slow and inattentive, they are also frequently rude. The last time I went my particular server spent several minutes complaining about his customers to another waiter at the other end of the restaurant, well within earshot (especially when speaking loudly and gesticulating). Generally I think it is poor form to insult your customers as they dine. Though the food is truly excellent, the horrendous service has kept me away.

This is the neighbor of Bierkraft, so it's only natural (after my 50 or so visits) that I check this place out at some point. Pretty good sandwiches. Certainly inventive with a wide variety of mixed ingredients. It's a decent place to grab a bite and chill for a bit before moving on.

Delicious food, albeit very slow service.  Lots of options for your vegetarian girlfriend.

I've eaten there many times, and each time i've tried to order the "Veggie Salsa" from their appetizer menu. Every single time, they've "just run out!" Makes me think that this menu item never really existed, or perhaps has since been nixed from the menu? Doesn't really matter though, the sandwiches are wonderful.

The sandwiches are 4 stars-tasty combinations on crusty ciabiatta bread and pressed together on one of those contraptions I don't have room for in my kitchen.

Press 195 needs a face-lift the place is looking a little worn. They were blaring top 40 radio and the service is pretty uneven.

Had not been here in awhile and will definitely be ordering.

Got panini to go and was pleasantly surprised to find a bag of chips in my bag when I got home-that I hadn't ordered.

I stopped by Press 195 after reading an article that recommended it.  Just so happens it is right next door to my favorite beer store, Bierkraft.  The restaurant was relatively empty when I arrived so service was attentive without being annoying.  I ordered the granny smith/brie/honey appetizer based on the waiters recommendation which turned out to be awesome.  I also ordered the tomato/mozzarella/maple pesto sandwich which was great.  Sadly, between the two courses, I had more food than I could finish so I ended up leaving some of both.  I was by myself so I only ordered a glass of wine, but the only other two tables in the place both ordered the sangria....might want to try it.  Although there are bunches of what appear to be fun and interesting eating/drinking establishments in the neighborhood, I would not hesitate to return to Press 195.

The food is excellent.  That being said, the service is mixed (table service can be a little slow) and you really don't get a lot of food.  For example, if you order a pressed sandwich for approx $8-$9, that's all you get.  Absolutely nothing extra, no sides.  Still, for $10 to $12 you can have a sandwich and a small salad or soup and for $15 you could have a sandwich and an appetizer.  I rate this place positively because, again, the food you do get is excellent.

Great food (most of the time), really shaky service.

If you're looking for a magnificent sandwich or salad in Park Slope, you must not look further.  Everything on the menu is great and it is very veggie friendly.  I've eaten here about 50 times and only twice did I have food I wouldn't even feed a garbage disposal.

If you need service, look elsewhere.  Sometimes it's ok, usually it's not.  And if you're a plastic wielding whore, be sure to pick up some cash on the way because they don't play your game.

Do not count on delivery, it's rarely existent and whoever answers the phone is downright rude.

Recommendations:

# 14 - Splurge on some extra goat cheese, artichoke hearts and sundried tomatoes
Ghirardelli Brownies (usually good, sometimes dry)
Hummus, olive, red pepper appetizer
Feta Salad
Pitchers of Sangria (helps you forget the service)

Awesome little sandwich place. Very cozy, nice atmosphere. I haven't tried anything other than the panini (which are fabulous), but the other things on the menu sound tasty, as well. They have a huge amount of pressed sandwiches to choose from, so it would be really hard to look through the list and not see something that sounds amazing to you. I also had an excellent ice cream float. The waitress was really sweet and the food came quickly.

This neighborhood joint is great to catch Sunday brunch and read up on your newspaper of choice.  It's laid back and has that homey feel that makes you want to sit down, get comfortable and stay for awhile.

While known for their paninis, or pressed sandwiches (hence the name), their salads are fresh and well made.  The back opens up on a nice day and is a great spot to just eat and enjoy the day.  Menu is solid; covers all your proteins and has veggie options too.  Not expensive but doesn't accept ccs!!!  For someone like me who buys a pack of gum of her credit card, it knocked it down half a star.

Their lattes were light and strong, better than the regular Starbux!

this was the very first place i took myself on my "yeah i just moved to brooklyn" date. from then on, i didn't mind order $20+ worth of panini and whatnot so they would deliver to my digs in south park slope (outside their delivery range!)
i guess i can't speak accurately because every time i got i get the same thing...ham and tomato on a knish...pressed of course. anything tucked into a potato formed sandwich is a.o.k with me. the tasty pickles on the side. heaven!
the menu is as limited as your imagination. the staff is friendly and the atmosphere is often busy but not overly crowded.  good for lunch, dinner, solo, date or with friends.
a good staple for park slope...

Never had a sandwich at this place that was less than stellar. The service can be a bit slow, but is always worth the wait. The last time I was there, they played Built to Spill's "Keep It Like A Secret" in its entirety, so definitely no complaints here.

Cut the roof of my mouth, please!  I always feel a little surprised when I spend this much on a simple sandwich, but those extra couple of dollars are always worth it at Press.  AND, you can carry the memory of this delicious sandwich with you in the form of cuts on your hard palate from the perfectly crusty bread.  MMMM, it hurts so good.  Quality meats and cheeses.  I don't care how the service is after I get the sandwich.

Went for first time the other night, thought it was pretty tasty. They only take cash, but there's plenty of ATMs around (and it's pretty inexpensive, so you don't need much). Good variety of sandwiches (many hot and pressed, of course!) of all kinds (including vegetarian), so should make everyone happy. Decent wines and casual atmosphere make this a good place to hang out for a simple meal with friends or even alone -- pretty good lighting to just chill and read. Banana bread dessert was good, but the bread was slightly burnt.

Had my second very satisfying meal at Press 195 this afternoon. I opted to have a salad this time around, as I was a little intimidated by the list of over 30 pressed sandwiches that they offer. My salad was huge, fresh and oh-so-tasty--I finished every last green and crumble of feta. Also tasted the salad that my mom ordered--the citrus chicken was really tasty and I'll probably order that the next time I eat there. From what I remember of the sandwich I had on my last visit--it was tasty and filling without making me feel grossly full--and you could actually taste all of the yummy components that inspired me to order it in the first place--none of the ingredients overpowered the others. They have a lot of unique local (to NY state) ingredients that they spotlight in interesting ways on their menu, whether it be as part of salad dressings, or spreads on their sandwiches, etc.--a really nice touch, if you ask me. Their strawberry lemonade is not too sweet or tart and v. refreshing too. Press 195 is quite a cute and casual little spot that might just be a new favorite for me.

Excellent pressed sandwiches, both hot and cold, but I generally go here for the perfectly made salads (a balance of refreshing and filling) and awesome sangria.  The garden is nice (optional umbrellas for shade) and the decor inside is lovely as well.  In the summer, though, bring a jacket... the A/C has been on pretty high every time I've been there.

i'm actually rating the one in queens which just opened ( same owners )

the food is good. i'm not crazy about the overpowdered bread. i swear i left that place with bakers dough on my clothes..lol... the ingredients are tasty. i considered the hummus the best dish in there. i've been there two times and the last time, they had belgium fries which were great !!!

overall, i will go back for the outdoor patio, hummus and belgium fries. but i hope they offer an alternative choice to their bread selection
