I really liked this venue, during Fest anyway. They managed to keep the line moving pretty well while trying to get in, and the staff was probably the most friendly of any of the venues I went to.
As for the place itself, I thought the sound was great; clear, loud, but not ear-shatteringly loud like so many places I go to. Big space, and there wasn't a bad place to be if you wanted to see the band. Wish there were more venues like this. -

Good to go
This is Gainesville premier COUNTRY BAR
Ive been going to :08 for years. Its been remodeled a couple times but it all stays about the same.
There is an upstairs balcony with a couple of pool tables for the more casual drinking atmosphere
Downstairs has a huge dance floor and a couple of bars.
It is never terribly crowded and is very rarely any serious fights break out. On some nights a live band will play some country and southern rock favorites.
There is line dancing and toward the end of the night they throw in some rap and dance music.
Bouncers are cool guys not your usual asshole.
This bar is not for everybody like i said, it does have country line dancing, but if you can see past that its really a fun time -

I went here for a few shows during The Fest, so it was very odd being in a western bar/club and hearing punk music. The staff seemed pretty carefree and the security wasn't abrasive like The Venue. There were a lot of good spots here to see the stage, which is good for short people like me. This place is huge! It has a lot of open spaces and an upstairs that I didn't get the chance to venture to. Overall, a pretty good place to see a show.

Massive two-level country bar right in the heart of downtown GNV. I've only been here to watch more punk-centric groups during The Fest (which is a weird experience) so I can't say much about their regular operation. But, chances are you'll have plenty of breathing room and ease in finding a drink. USA! USA! USA!
