Home of the BIG everything.
Steakhouses are generally not my thing; but I will admit that Gibson's is a tasty way to part with mucho dinero. The shrimp and oysters were large and delicious, the crab and avocado appetizers were yummy, the antipasto plate could feed an army. Drinks are large, and they carry an extensive wine list. It's a Chicago steakhouse.
We had a company dinner here. I had Fillet Mignon. It tasted awesome...not like world class awesome, but pretty damn awesome. They gave some potato in a cup looking thing with it too...it tasted pretty damn good as well. They poured me a big glass of wine. For that, I praise them. They refilled it before I could finish, for that I want them to have my baby. The waiters took special requests for beer and booze despite the fact that technically we weren't allowed. For that I may just marry them.
I can't say I exactly had a Gibson's "experience" since we were in a room with a projector and a lot of applauding and award giving. But I know when I ate some damn good food...and the fact that I didn't have to pay for it, well, just made it all that much sweeter.
This review is pretty worthless, but you should FUC it anyways.
Thanks for listening and understanding.

I sometimes think all of these steakhouses should combine and call themselves Ruth Wollensky's Palm Steak Houses. I mean it's always the same drill... a NY strip steak for $37.50, side dishes served "family style" for two or more at $8-12 a pop for steamed asparagus and mashed potatoes and there "world famous" NY cheese cake or Key lime pie or creme brule (yawn) for dessert. The food is predictably very good, my steak was excellent. I'm going with 3 stars because the menu and atmosphere are pretty unoriginal... and for the cost you just should have more. Check that - there were planes coming in to O'Hare that you could almost reach out and touch.

It's really a shame I don't enjoy masticating cow, cause if I did I'd be in hog heaven. Honestly, the minute I walk into this place my stomach already starts to turn. And, I have anxiety about having to go to a "Steak House", cause I think to myself, "self, what are you going to eat?" It's really a horrible situation. However, I went here for a family lunch and was pleased to see that they actually had *many* choices that did not include something that could potentially give me mad cow.
I settled on the onion soup (which really wasn't that good) and a lobster roll (which wasn't even on a roll). Hrm, maybe they are better off sticking to bovine. Oh, yeah and as usual if I see the words "crme brulee" on a dessert menu I'm obviously ordering it. But, this was one dessert I could've done without. It was just blah.
I don't understand the appeal of this place, because I'm pretty sure I could make a better steak at home...and if anyone would like to take me up on that offer you're free to do so.

Dare I mention Mortons? They really are very similar, I enjoyed both, I'm like a 6 year old in a candy stor evrytime I go to either, Had the bone in filet mignon and washed it down with a bottle of fruitty italian wine.
If you love STEAK this is the place....outside of the wonderful service and wide array of steak cuts my entire meal was just fantastic. The workers are very attentive and you will never have to look for them. I truly picked up on a positive TEAM environment from their staff. I also loved the courtesy valet parking. The sides are huge enough for two ppl heck the whole meal is!
I took my mom, brother, and sister here. I only trekked to Rosemont to keep it simple as my mom doesn't like to travel too far. How am I related to her?
But the server brings out a giant plate of raw meat and seafood and gives a nice 10 minute spiel on the meat itself and how they prepare it. An 1800 degree laser convection oven!
I had the giant yellow-fin tuna cooked rare. MM so good. That laser oven just crisps the heck out of the fish instantly. it's very good. Being that I am from the west coast, I approach all seafood with hesitation in the midwest, but Gibson's delivered.
And we finished it off with the giant quarter devil's food cake complete with machete spiked into the middle. I felt like I could rule camelot after I pulled it out. It was freaking enormous.
An due to my mom- we got to be that family that gets the hostess to take way too many pictures. ugh.

One of my out of town friends was here, so we had to introduce him to a nearby steak place, and he loved it! I work near hear so it's very convenient for lunch and dinner. The place has a classic comfortable feel, and it's relatively busy during lunch catering towards a lot of the business people in the area. They have a nice bar area where you can definitely chill in. It's a nicely lit place. My favorite thing in the bread basket is the raisin bread. I love it, and could eat it just by itself. I love the cold seafood appetizer dish they prepare, and I love the shrimp cocktail. I am also very fond of the steak salad here as well. I had also had the Chicago cut style steak and it was huge and delicious. The mile high turtle pie is a must have, and it's one of the most fantastic things you'll see. This thing could easily feed like 10 people, and we took some of it back for a friend and I believe she ate it all. The prices are pretty competitive to other steak places. This place always makes me feel like home when I come here, and the service is always spectacular. I like coming here, and am sure I'll be back.

Embarrassed as I am to admit it, this goes out to those Barney lovers out there -- and, no, I don't mean Barney's-the-shopping-mecca, I mean Barney-the-purple-dinosaur:
I love moo.
Moo loves me.
Moo feels gooooood in my tummy.
With a great big moo, and some apple strudel, too,
Tasty moo for me and you!
Ri-donkey-lous filet mignon, seriously delicious and god-no-this-isn't-healthy-even-though-it' s -called-a-"salad"-but-it' s-soooo-g ood chopped garbage salad, and the most obscenely humongous apple strudel known to man. (See pictorial evidence!)
Quality. Serious quality.
N.B.: Also, free valet!

A buddy brought me here to celebrate my birthday a few months ago, but the story I've told of Gibson's food still lingers, so I figured I would Yelp it.
The service is prompt and attentive during the lunch hour. I ordered a glass of riesling to accompany the insanely large half chopped garbage salad that I shared. The salad was great and included goodies like chopped shrimp and tasty diced tomatoes, etc. There was so much food that we could barely touch the broiled tilapia with mashed potatoes and green beans or the lobster roll sandwich, although we put in great effort. However, we did concede and asked that the plates be wrapped up.
I was coerced by my friend to try dessert and was told that slices of the carrot cake and and the chocolate cake are must-try's. Of course when the waiter came back with the slices, expletives (i.e., holy mother of crap) came out of my mouth and diners at nearby tables giggled at my commentary. Apparently they agreed that slices of cake should not inspire profanity at sight. While both desserts were tasty, I would HIGHLY recommend getting only one slice to share with all in your party... or at least in our case... to share with all in our party and with those nearby as well.

I cannot even BEGIN to tell you how much I love this place. True, they're expensive but worth every penny. Their portions are massive, not just their steak but desserts, veggies, baked potato's.....where on earth do they buy their food I'd love to know!!! I went with three friends and some other chic and the "other chic" ordered broccoli, I swear on everything they literally brought her a tree with the trunk cut off. LOL....too funny. This places is hot though! I would totally recommend this place to anyone!

my first time to the Midwest and they bring me here! i was in Chicago for a convention and went out one night with our designers from Japan (who did not speak a word of English) and ended up going across the street from the venue (great location!) we were at. from the moment you enter this establishment you know you are going to be taken care of, they have a team of buspeople, servers, runners etc for each table! i had the Chicago cut and man o' man was it amazing!! Kim had the fish which was surprisingly great (Midwest seafood...). the Japanese were amazed at the portions and i think they realize now why everyone they see is so big to them (and to us from LA). our one dessert was enormous and more than enough for our party of nine people!! great service, location and the food makes this an easy five star place. would come back if my travels take me to beautiful Rosemont again!!
When I last went to Gibson's, it was to the downtown location and I remember the food, service and overall atmosphere to be first class. Today, we went to the Rosemont location for lunch (much closer to home) and was hardly impressed. I was really bummed too, because I had really been looking forward to a killer steak. You know you're in trouble when you go to a steakhouse of this caliber and the salad is the best part of the meal.
For starters - the service was below average. From the time we were seated until the the water/bread was brought to our table was a good 5-10 minutes. The waiter himself didn't stop by until another 5 minutes or so after that. From then on, the water was filled promptly and frequently, however our dirty bread plates remained in a stack on the edge of the table for our entire meal.
The waiter was was nice enough, but he seemed to rush us. Mind you, this was lunchtime and the place was not packed by any means and they didn't seem short-staffed. That being said, he also messed up our order twice.
For an appetizer, my husband and I decided to split half a chopped Garbage Salad. The salad itself was wonderful - light, crisp, very fresh and filled with tomatoes, provolone and mozarella cheeses, red onions, artichoke hearts, . However, he brought us 2 half orders, one for each of us. We only wanted the one half to share so that we didn't get filled up, pre-entree.
For my meal, I ordered the 12oz filet, cooked "medium-plus" (never heard that term before, but apparently it's between medium and medium-well) and double baked potato. Hubby got the bone-in sirloin, rare and the green beans. For our son, we ordered the filet sliders and asked for a small side of fries. When the food came, my steak was burned black on the outside and nearly raw on the inside. The black char was SO thick on the outside, it was very difficult to scrape off, and I found myself cutting away the sides to get to the more properly cooked part - probably wasted/cut away 1/3 of the steak. Not only that, but the edible part of the meat was less than impressive.. just very plain and tasteless. My husband's steak was about the same, but his was at least cooked properly. However he had to add steak seasoning to it. They also brought us two full orders of fries, which we did not order. We just wanted some for my son's filet burgers, yet got stuck with two big bowls of them. The twice baked potato was good, but not outstanding, and the green beans were just plain old green beans with some mushrooms added to them - nothing special.
We did get two desserts - creme brule which we ate there, and chocolate mousse cake which we brought home. The creme brule was OK, nothing worth ordering again and we haven't dug into the chocolate mousse cake yet.
Unfortunately, I didn't complain about the steak or double orders of salad & fries, so I'll take the heat for that. We just wanted to get out of there. We might have been comped or gotten a discount, but who knows. Overall, I was really disappointed with our experience today. Not at all what I remember of the location on Rush St. that we visited about 2 years ago. This Rosemont/Airport location was in a whole other, lower class league. I'll take my $180 (including tip, no alcohol) and spend it elsewhere - we won't be back anytime soon.

I went here for the first time this past weekend. The filet mignon was wonderful, as was the double baked potato and, as Valerie mentioned below, the turtle pie is amazing (one piece can feed up to 4 people!). The service was outstanding. Just know that the entrees do not come with any side items and your bill can be pretty intense if you're not careful. Keep in mind that all sides are huge and can feed two people. On Saturday night, the noise level was deafening which was a slight turn off, and some people just do not understand that they should be dressing much nicer than most did that night (i.e. leave the sweats, gym shoes and baseball caps at home, folks). It's shocking to me how many people just don't care about looking nice when they go out to a classy establishment or special event.

This is a spinoff of the very popular steakhouse downtown. This is probably the most notable (and definitely the most upscale) restaurant in this stretch of Rosemont, but I like the unheralded Chez Colette at the nearby Sofitel better. Well if you gotta have a big and juicy steak and don't want to venture all the way downtown, check this place out.

They have great steaks and chops here. They also have excellent seafood. The service was outstanding. Nice place for a special event or dinner date, they are on the upscale side. They are right down the lane from the Rosemont Theatre.

EXCELLENT!!! My friends and I decided to have a nice night out and this definitely foot the bill. I had a chicago cut cooked med-rare and it was cook to perfection and one of the best cut of meat I've had. The service was good, they were helpful but at times it felt as if the server didn't take us as seriously because we were younger. I might not be in the same tax bracket of some of their other clientele, but my green is as green as theirs. The martinis are great and they make a good gin & tonic. The sides are definitely to be shared and so is the dessert. One thing that I found annoying was that we arrived about 15 minutes prior to our reservation and waited an additional 30 minutes to be seated. Trying to make our way through the sardine packed bar, we finally got our drinks and make our way though again without trying to spill our drinks from people bumping into you from all directions. I wouldn't be surprised if they make everyone wait just a little to make you grab a drink from the bar. Drinks do have the highest margins after all. If you live in the Naperville area and don't want to make the hike out here, then go to Hugo's Frog Bar. Same company so many similarities. If you do you come here, a great place to end the night is Hala Kahiki which is about a mile or so down the street (read my review).
Eat to live. Live to be happy.

They have the biggest steaks I have ever seen or tried to eat. I also managed to squeeze in a taste of their chocolate-nut-and-caramel "turtle" treat, which was to die for. A bit on the pricey side, but well worth every penny. Come dressed to impress since it is an upscale place.
